For nine days, as European and United Nations officials have called urgently for a cease-fire in Gaza, the Bush administration has squarely blamed the rocket attacks of the Palestinian militant group Hamas for Israel’s assault, maintaining to the end its eight-year record of stalwart support for Israel.
Mr. Bush, in his weekly radio address on Saturday, said the United States did not want a “one-way cease-fire” that allowed Hamas to keep up its rocket fire, and Vice President Dick Cheney on Sunday echoed the point, declaring that only a “sustainable, durable” peace would be acceptable.
Many Middle East experts say Israel timed its move against Hamas, which began with airstrikes on Dec. 27, 24 days before Mr. Bush leaves office, with the expectation of such backing in Washington. Israeli officials could not be certain that President-elect Barack Obama,

The photographs of Obama reaching DC today turned my stomach.
He is an escape artist, a photo op lover, a person who like billy klnton will lead via popularity polls and a person who CARES MORE ABOUT WHAT OTHER NATIONS THINK OF US THAN ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING SHOULD IT BE UNPOPULAR WITH OTHER NATIONS.
This narcissist who appears to be strong and fit certainly comes off as a whimp to anyone who takes a second look.
The fact that Reid and Durbin are publicly supporting Israel in this matter suggests that O does too.
The bottom line is Bush has NOT been saying what he is saying now for the last 8 years.
Why not?
Because it's "Legacy Time"! Bush has not been all bad, but he's hardly been anything like the conservative we hoped for way back when.
Jeb can just forget about his father's idea for a run. "Read My Lips" and "I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system" have me disgusted with the Bushes. Two strikes and you're out.

If that is the case then why did Israelis contact relatives in the States and urge them to vote for obama?

Obama must have one hell of a fantasy world.
He is going to have to be well installed into his fantasy world to withstand the projectiles that will be coming his way.
Clinton was a smooth talker, too. And a narcissist, no doubt. With some distinct sociopathic flags flying around him; Obama, I fear, is going to make clinton look like a piker. Obama is in WAY OVER HIS HEAD....HE IS IN THE GROWN UP WORLD WITHOUT A PADDLE, ONLY THE REALLY BAD PICKS HE HAS MADE AS PREZ ELECT THERE TO STEER HIM. It is getting scary.
The story that I heard was that young American liberal Jews contacted their grandparents in Florida and urged them fervently to vote the liberal ticket (Obama). American Jews seem in denial. Liberal is regarded as “smart” by those “in the know” who consider themselves elites.

Actually, Obama probably encouraged Israel to move before he takes office, so that by the time he is sworn in the offensive will have run its course and he can call for a pullback or truce. It makes everyone happy: Bush gets to stand by an ally, the Israelis get to go after an enemy, and Obama gets to come in on a white horse after both sides have spent themselves and be the peacemaker. From his perspective it is better for the offensive to come sooner rather than later.

I distinctly remember the media gang bang on Bush I. They constantly referred to him as Mr. Bush during his re-election campaign to diminish him in the eyes of the voters. Once the Clintoon was elected, it was PRESIDENT CLINTON from that day to this. Shane is just shitting in W's face. The media are evil.

I thought from the beginning of this battle that Israel chose to go now while Bush was still in office - because they do not have any confidence in Obama.
And he's still a dumbass!
