(Washington, D.C. - 1/3/09) Democrats across the board, including progressives on the far left, who are ardent supporters of Caroline Kennedy, are growing impatient with Republicans and others who are concerned about her apparent lack of qualifications for a likely U.S. Senatorial appointment.
In a specious statement from the DNC, tolerance and understanding of this appointment are required:
“We firmly believe Caroline “You Know” Kennedy is the absolutely best choice that could be made for the people of New York, the U.S. Senate and for the people of America. All of America should now be pleased there is a voice for the oratorically-impaired which otherwise would go missing. This is an important part of the Change coming to America and we demand acceptance of this historic appointment.”
“We only wish our friends on the right would practice what they preach and be as tolerant of Caroline as we on the left have been of Republican female appointments and nominees to all levels office. We’re tired of our nominees/appointees having to put up with overt naysayers, undeserved criticism and unfounded rumors while we treat theirs with dignity, respect and a tolerance for opposing views. We demand equal treatment.”

This is basically an affirmative action program for the incompetent. Last time anybody tried to institute such a program for a pubbie was in the case of a nomination to the supreme court and I believe the guy’s name was Carswell; One midwest pubbie senator (Hruska) tried claiming that the mediocre people of the country deserved some sort of representation and the leftists and media just went berserk.
Isn’t the decision up to the gov. of NY?
a good reason to let her be Senator...she comes up for election again in 2 years and that would give any Republican a better chance...

Some of the Librals/Democrats who said that Sarah Palin wasn’t ready for prime time are saying that the ditzy diva Caroline Kennedy is ready for prime time, even though you know, you know Caroline Kennedy has no governmental experience and Sarah Palin does.
Here is what it all boils down to with libs and how they look at things:
If you have a (D) beside your name (and especially if you are a liberal) then you are infinitely more qualified to hold office than any conservative.

I’m no admirer of the Kennedys (to say the least), but I must say I was pleasantly amused when Caroline Kennedy let the fawning so-called “journalists” know what a mindless bunch or morons they are.

What I have been reading it is the Democrats who are fighting amongst themsleves. It is their problem, not ours.
Speaking for myself, I’m just sitting back laughing at all this and more. It is all such a tragicomedy. It is all such great intertainment.

I like this Caroline Kennedy case, because in a way they are proposing in New York State essentially to do something very comparable to what the Illinois governor is reputed to have done: make the best deal. Caroline has lots of money. The unease in the Party is caused by the fact that she has not contributed in the past very heavily to the Democrats, and they fear that she will not spread her wealth around.
She is rumored to be allied with Bloomberg, the relentlessly self-promoting mayor of New York, who is an extremely wealthy (multi-billionaire) opportunist, also with an unimpressive record of party loyalty. Heck, he even for a few years used to call himself a Republican, but only as long as it was convenient.
An increasingly large number of leading Democrats are from the ranks of the bored super-rich, in search of a hobby which provides self-aggrandizement along with sanctimonious self-righteousness. These people are not necessarily talented, and usually have no strong moral foundation. Caroline Kennedy, for example, is a professed Roman Catholic, yet an ardent proponent of abortion (”the woman’s right to choose”). If the Catholic church were consistent, she would be excommunicated.

This is the most assinine statement I’ve seen in a long time. Sarah Palin was savagely attacked by the media and the Democrats, yet now they want us to view them as having been tolerant? You have to hand it to them for being able to make such a statement and want it to be taken seriously. I only wish our Republican leadership had such ball.
