Even JWT, the largest ad agency in the world, is now saying we are ready for simple pleasures, modest living, an honest cup o' Joe and other thrifty, frugal ways already familiar to many conservatives and heartland Americans.

We have been there for several years by choice not necessity. I really enjoy being able to produce home cooked items at a very high standard with humble ingredients.
Average Americans may have to relearn the basics of frugality, but you can be sure the government will continue spending, devaluing, and bankrupting faster than ever.
If my experience is any example, you’re about to be called a marxist, communist or worse. Yep, I also made the mistake of pointing out the connection between the words “conserve” and “Conservative”.
Good luck. LOL
Been that way all my life. Mrs. abb says I’m so stingy that Dave Ramsey could learn tips from me.
Well..., I’m frugal, too — brew my own coffee and usually finish off the pot, even if it is a lot later (use the microwave a lot... LOL...).
Same here. Mr. Inspectorette says I'll squeeze a nickel to hear it scream.
With international trade coming to a screeching halt, and fast, better stock up on that coffee and chocolate. Since America’s credit rating may be slashed, we will have to pay cash for coffee and bananas if our cash is any good, but cocoa is from Africa, and it will be just too expensive.
I have been careful of what I spend all my life, so this will be no dis covery to me, life will go on as usual.. happy, healthful, and hearty...
I make my morning coffee at night and nuke it in the morning. I don’t even like to waste time.
Uh, people are broke and buying less. That’s not adopting a “tradition” by choice. If people had the choice, they’d be rich and buy more.
You said — “I make my morning coffee at night and nuke it in the morning. I dont even like to waste time.”
Good idea... I’ve got one that has a timer on it, but I’ve never used it. I could (conceivably) set it to be ready at whatever time. But, I really do run the pot down and that could happen at various times of the day...
I also use the whole pot ... if I don’t drink it, put in a pitcher in refrigerator for iced coffee later.
The other eve we were guests at an upscale restaurant, thanks to a Christmas gift card to said eatery. The prices were far beyond anything I’d ever pay but the food and service were well worth it, and it was a gift meant to be enjoyed. I had to draw the line on after-dinner coffee... I could buy a 3lb can at Costco for the cost of one cup of the restaurant’s brew. Just couldn’t do it.
I don’t have a drip coffee maker anymore. Mine quit working in July and I started using my old tin percolator since it was handy after a camping trip.
If I get any more frugal I’m going to be throwing hot rocks into water to heat water.
I guess we have been pretty frugal - no credit card debt, own both vehicles and paid the homestead off last January. As we hear about credit card companies lowering credit lines, I just got my latest bill (we use the card for gas/groceries, etc) and they included some handy-dandy checks to make going into debt a bit easier. One of these years they will figure out we never use the dang things and stop wasting the printing costs.

Bingo... I’ve had to do the same...
I also do the iced coffee thing with the leftover coffee—darned good in the summer.
In the winter I just nuke it.
Also, have a wicked good recipe for a chocolate cake made with cold coffee—don’t make many of those, the coffee usually goes first.
I like to say “It doesn’t matter who you are, living liberally puts you into debt, while living conservatively keeps you out of debt.”
We use a Melitta cone and an insulated airpot to make our coffee. The airpot will keep coffee warm for almost a full day; after that we just nuke it.
