Excerpted for hidden links, this technology for latent fingerprints will put a premium on using gloves with stolen hardware.

I saw an episode of Forensic files where they got DNA from the inside of the fingertip of a latex glove found in the trunk of a suspect’s car. They matched the DNA to the suspect and he got life for murder.
Gloves may not work either, unless the perp is really careful to not leave any gloves-or parts of them-behind.

“Wiping the gun clean has long been considered best practice for villains”
I guess the new “best practice” will be dropping cartridge cases picked up at public shooting ranges.

Great. This will result in swift sure death penalty executions like the vast majority of the U.S. public wants, right?

"I saw an episode of Forensic files where they got DNA from the inside of the fingertip of a latex glove found in the trunk of a suspects car. They matched the DNA to the suspect and he got life for murder."There must be more to this story. I would think it likely that a rubber glove found in my possession would have my DNA on it.
It would be another story if it also had the victim's DNA on it or some evidence of the gun as well.

Canada actually broke ground in this area of forensic science.

i think what they are talking about is taking the print off of the expended cartridge, not the gun frame. people do not realize that they leave prints when they load bullets into the magazine.
then when the rounds are fired, prints can be lifted from the expended round.

Not only do they leave prints but they also leave epidurals behind.

Great, now if they could just find a way to give harsh penalties to violent repeat criminals, we might be getting somewhere.

Wiping the gun clean has long been considered best practice for villains If the weapon is even found the villain messed up in his planning.

“The term epidural is often short for epidural anesthesia, a form of regional anesthesia involving injection of drugs through a catheter placed into the epidural space. The injection can cause both a loss of sensation (anaesthesia) and a loss of pain (analgesia), by blocking the transmission of signals through nerves in or near the spinal cord.”
Don’t leave your cartridge cases around the OB department!
