PING!
Anybody doing a movie about Che and no axe to grind, it’s definitely for the brain dead Democrat crowd. Che was a murdering Communist thug.
No thanks. By the way, as an “imperialist,” I’m becoming increasing agitated that we haven’t overrun and set up governance of more countries lately....
The good news is that I have absolutely no interest in Che, his life, or any other aspect of him, so I get to vote with my wallet and simply say “NO!” to such crap. If the market feels as I do, such films get filed in the dustbin of history, making it that much harder for the next POS movie like Che from being made.
It’s been out for two weeks and grossed just $150K!!!
Closest showing for me here in Philly is the IFC in NYC, but only on the weekend.
I thought the language of imperialism was Spanish...
ALSO....it’s 4 hours and 23 minutes of torture.
And yet he will either produce his film in English or accept subtitles. Otherwise, it won’t make as much money and ze pour artiste vill haf no deenaroe!
There are towns in NJ looking much like ‘Little Cuba’ with all the Che T Shirts, BackPacks and jackets. I wonder who owns the image of Che and it making money off the new marketing.
Will it include the dogs he shot and kids he executed? Will it include his psychotic pal who loved executions more than he? Will it show the fancy digs that he enjoyed in Cuba?
> I wonder who owns the image of Che and it making money off the new marketing.
(grin!) do you remember just after Princess Diana died, some charity or another that she controlled really clamped down on “the name, image and likeness of Princess Diana”?
I thought that was spooky!
I guess if we were going to switch to a non-imperialist language, we’d have to speak Tagalog or something, since English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Farsi, Greek, Japanese, Flemish, Dutch, various Slavic languages, Arabic, Portuguese, and a few others too are all languages that have been used by imperial powers.
Will not bomb. It has a worldwide built in fan base
Will not make tons on money but will get Stevie Soderberg all kinds hot women and good movie deals. And isn't that what it's all about?
After the movie theaters this will go to DVD and be an inspiration to rebellious youth worldwide. My take is it will also encourage Muslim youth. Soderberg is a very good director. I'm not a fan BTW...just stating reality
And at 4.5 hours it is most definitely meant to be an epic propaganda piece. Not something Soderberg thinks he will get rich at
And 4.5 hours on two DVD discs is a very easy way to distribute. So cheap and effective. Obviously this will be viewed 100 times more on DVD than in movie theaters

KRISTINN, FREEREPUBLIC.COM: We have kids that wear Che Guevara shirts here in the United States.
MATTHEWS: Yes, but they're kind of cute at this point, aren't they? They're not about somebody out to get us now. I think there's a difference. I mean, that's kind of camp almost, isn't it?...is Che Guevara the symbol of hate in the United States anymore?
KRISTINN: Yes.
MATTHEWS: I don't think so. I mean, a lot of our kids wear them. I see kids wearing them all the time, even my kids wear them. It's like a Robert Marley T-shirt at this point.

Che flag sends 'disturbing' message about Obama
Candidate attracts 'people who think mass murderers are romantic revolutionaries'

The Fox TV affiliate in Houston has captured images of a volunteer in a campaign office for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama working in front of a flag featuring the image of Che Guevara, the South American revolutionary who became Fidel Castro's executioner after the communist takeover in Cuba.
And while the Obama campaign has issued a statement placing a modest distance between the campaign and its "volunteers," the issue of such an image on display in an office operating on behalf of a man hoping to be commander in chief of the world's last remaining superpower is raising alarms.
Even Obama supporters have been forced into corners because of the issue, with one likening the Texas state Republican Party to Guevara, to whom have been attributed hundreds of executions of anti-Castro leaders.
Under the heading "Barack Guevara," Investor's Business Daily raised some of the more pointed questions, to which the campaign responded only with a statement: "The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign. ..."
