The U.N. Security Council met on Wednesday to discuss the violence in Gaza, with Arab countries pushing for a resolution to demand an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants.

Envoys from the 15-nation council began with closed-door consultations but then moved into a formal public meeting.

Libya, the only Arab country on the council, was due to present a draft resolution but both Arab and Western diplomats said they doubted any vote would be held on Wednesday and would probably come in the next few days.

Earlier in a letter to the council presidency, Egyptian Ambassador Maged Abdelaziz asked for an emergency session "to consider the continued Israeli military aggression on the occupied Palestinian territory in the Gaza Strip."

Burkina Faso (2009)
Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (2009) Viet Nam (2009)
Costa Rica (2009) Mexico (2010)

The U.S. should veto any resolution that the Security Council proposes.

The UN would be hard-pressed to even issue a statement, let alone call a meeting of their Security Council, if the tables in this conflict were reversed.

Israel needs to pull out all the stops, and destroy every last bit of hostility remaining in “Palestine”.

I think they understand that they’re about to lose a friend in the White House, so their tactics need to change. Future support from the US may be questionable, at best, so they’d better do what’s in their national interest now, and ignore the bleating from the left for them to surrender to the jihad.

Too many of the countries represented in the so-called U.N. Security Council are enemy sympathizers. If we’d taken Iran down (biggest source of enemy support), they’d be much less sympathetic to the enemy.

NOTICE!!!!! EVERYONE!!!!!!!

It was NEVER a crisis worthy of the Security Council, no matter how many suicide bombers were blowing up civilians in Israel.

It was only a “CRISIS” when Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza to end the terrorist attacks.

It was NEVER a crisis worthy of the Security Council, no matter how many rockets streamed daily into Israeli cities, from Lebanon. It was only a “crisis” when Israel responded.

And now, again, it has not been a crisis worthy of the Security Council, as missiles and mortars streamed in from Gaza, no matter how long the missiles have continued, unabated. It is just now only a “CRISIS” because, again, Israel has responded.

The real problem in this crisis is the hypocrisy of what constitutes a “crisis” at the Security Council.

Until the U.S. has a unitary diplomatic voice that admits this truth from world Middle East diplomatic history, no U.S. diplomatic voice will help resolve the problem there.

It can initiate that voice now, by refusing to meet at the Security Council at this time, and until there is a Security Council agreement on what constitutes a requirement for a Security Council “crisis meeting” on Israeli-Palestinian issues - an agreement that sets every terrorist act by Palestinians as a cause for such a meeting.

Knowing that without U.S. agreement on this matter, the Palestinian supporters would either quit looking for U.N. diplomatic solutions in a “crisis” or start applying their own pressure on Palestinians to quit creating the crisis - including, and starting with, helping to pass this agreement on on a “crisis” standard for the Security Council.

Again, U.S. “diplomacy” must demand those seeking solutions to quit preventing the solutions they seek. And, in that regard, as long as a “crisis” has a one-sided definition, those demanding that definition are part of the problem, not the solution.

Its Israel's fault for defending itself. In view of all the violence in the world, its amazing the world is obsessed with tiny Israel's actions.

Let them propose whatever they like, then Israel can issue a statement saying the first nation that tries to act on it will see its capital incinerated by nuclear missile attack. It'd concentrate minds for all these utterly ridiculous busybodies and cowards.
