Wish me luck!

Good luck, but you're doomed.

Why risk it?

Why risk anything, Mom?

Yes, that is the policy I take also.

How did we get to this point?

Hysteria?

Thank you for the last sentence in your post. A lot of people on this thread think if they stick their fingers in their ears and yell “Shant,” that the law won't apply to them.

I don't have any truck with that sort of deliberate ignorance, regardless of where it comes from on the political scale.

No, because such a stop would have no valid reason. A stop for DUI occurs when you are visibly incapable of safely operating the vehicle.

No, you are wrong. You can be stopped even without that. Does that change your opinion?

PS, read the link.

The breathalyzer test is, in fact, a DNA test. Try figuring out a way of no DNA being transferred to that tube you are blowing into...........

States must either do what the fed wants or be denied DOT funds.

Illinois contested a motorcycle helmet provision for three years, the money was put in escrow. The helmet reg. was finally pulled and all the dough was freed up. This was about a dozen years ago. We had a different state government then.

Think you missed the point here. You do not have to be a licensed driver, be driving, or even own a car to be arrested for DUI. They only have to say they believe you were about to drive. Matter of fact in recent years they’ve been busting folks on bicycles and riding lawn mowers for DUI.

Use a designated driver and quit bitchin'.

Designated drivers are now being arrested as accomplices to a crime.

Now what?

Boy, the crazies are out tonight.

The "crazies" as you call us, are not OUT, we're at home imbibing or not, but not on the roads...........thus we are NOT the crazies.

Happy New Year.

“You can drive all you want on your private land without a license. You can’t drive on a public highway or street without a license.”

So the assertion that “Driving a car is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT“ is inaccurate because there is a right to drive a car.

It’s not a toughy... either stay home or fork over money for a cab.

There's not a cab within 200 miles of me.

Now, what?

I'm not on the road either. I'm referring to people who claim that constitutional law is different than it is because they really REALLY want it to be different.

The left does that all the time. It is very sad when people who call themselves conservatives make the same mistake.

With your line of reasoning, a man could blindfold himself, take a shotgun into a bus terminal, and start randomly firing. Your reasoning would hold this man no more accountable than if he'd skidded out of control on ice.

I would bet you drink irresponsibly and fear accountability. Don't worry, you need not respond.

When you voluntarily give up control, especially due to a recreational drug, you should suffer three-fold back whatever you chose to do to another.

I hold myself to that same standard.

Yes, I am conservative.

People who drink and drive are scum.

While it is not currently permissible to drink AND drive (a relatively recent development), it is perfectly legal to drink THEN drive (although not advisable).

Please make the distinction in your future posts.

Uhm... Sorry.

Lost time I looked the United States was a Constitutional Republic, not a monarchy.

Only a monarchy can confer “privileges”.

Richard James McDonald? You're using that half-witted tax protest "state citizen" scam artist as an authority? Seriously?

I have just read this entire thread, and I am amazed at the number of nanny state totalitarians that now post on FR. No, I’m not advocating drunk driving, but I’ve had friends that did jail time for sleeping in their car (keys were inside car.put on the cuffs )...the laws are insane.
I remember a State Police sign that was on Rt 13 in Delaware that would post “100 traffic deaths this year, 40 alcohol related”...I know what they were trying to say, but what it told me was that 60% of the people out the can’t even drive sober.

You could have walked the line and passed the Breathalyzer.

Nobody who gets to that point "passes" under current law.
