A Denver firm has recalled about 172 pounds of burritos that may be contaminated with Listeria monocyto genes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Tuesday.
The recall by Home Fresh Sandwich Distributors Inc. involved 5.3-ounce packages of "7-Eleven Fresh to Go burrito with potatoes, bacon, eggs & Montery Jack cheese" with a best by date of "Thursday 1225."
Consumers may have purchased these burrito products on Dec. 24 and 25. The food-safety service has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.
A pink burrito? YARK!
What are the symptoms of listeriosis?
A person with listeriosis has fever, muscle aches, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. If infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms such as headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions can occur.
Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness; however, infections during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth, premature delivery, or infection of the newborn.

How great is the risk for listeriosis?
In the United States, an estimated 2,500 persons become seriously ill with listeriosis each year. Of these, 500 die. At increased risk are:
Pregnant women - They are about 20 times more likely than other healthy adults to get listeriosis. About one-third of listeriosis cases happen during pregnancy.

Hardly.

Well that rules out one place my wife and I might have visited for lunch today. Not...
I’ve never eaten a 7-11 burrito but a nasty image comes to mind after reading all these comments. No gracias!
I happen to recall a burrito I ate there once.
It’s not a good memory. As a matter of fact, it was a pain in the ass.
So, your recall was self induced?............
That's my problem, too. My monocyto is too big for my genes...........
I think the last thing I ate at 7~11 were those chili dawgs with cheese and onions, way back in the 70’s
I think they were 3 for a dollar?
“...the typical fat ass that buys his/her burritos from 7-11, has them eaten before they get to the car.”
Back in the 70’s I could attest to that.
“I think the last thing I ate at 7~11 were those chili dawgs with cheese and onions, way back in the 70s”
I think I probably did too. Not now unless there was nothing else to eat. But sometimes there’s nothing like a hot dog and soda. I will still pass on the 7-11 burritos.
“Doesn’t the Denver Post have proofreaders amymore?”
Mope!
What if we have had all those symptoms since Obama was elected? ROTFL
Yeah, I love a good chili dawg LoL
I HATE when that happens...
You said: Hardly.
I say:
Anybody that eats at a 7-11 lunch bar is gambling on a death sentence, anyway.
Those are the nastiest damn places I've ever seen, that had food for sale.
I once looked under the Nacho Cheese warmer, melter or whatever the hell it is, and saw a rat looking back at me, munching on a piece of that so-called cheese that was probably harder than a rock.
I told the clerk and the smart ass replied that he didn't think the rat would eat too much.
That was in 1989 and I haven't been back inside one since then.
Ain't going back in, either.
Agreed.

172 pounds of meat in 711 burritos?
They must be meaty suckers.
Depends on your definition of “meat”..............
Bawney Fwank will be out looking for a pink burrito tonight.
