They just saying this to try to drown out the fact that each year since 2001 it’s gotten colder, Al Warming is total nonsense ...

Scientists and professors used to have to submit detailed missives and tomes to apply for grant money for their pet projects.
Now, they just jump on the global warming gravy train with a simple projection and CHA-CHING!
We're in the money! We're in the money!

In the land of logic and reason that is true. But unfortunately the cult of climate change and much of our citizenry does not exist in that realm.
If we have a record breaking summer for high temps here in the States, the CCM and MSM will parrot it around as further proof of Climate Change. They will never mention the fact that it was below average somewhere else on Earth and it balanced out.
All you need is the Climate Change talking heads to parrot the line about the hot summer if it happens and most people unfortunately at home will go “well it was unusually warm here this summer maybe there is something to this”.

Oh..... so 14.52c is WELL ABOVE 14.00c. Add 273.15 to each side to get absolute temps (degrees Kelvin) and it looks even more ridiculous.

Currently the warmest year on record is 1998,"
Huh? I thought that was corrected to sometime in the 1930s. Yes, that lie in a long and on-going string of lies on GW / AGW was ultimately corrected to acknowledge that 1938 is in fact the warmest year on record.

Currently the warmest year on record is 1998, which saw average temperatures of 14.52 degrees celsius - well above the 1961-1990 long-term average of 14 degrees celsius. Can you say, ludicrous? .52 degrees is well above the average? Holy Moly!

I believe 1998 was downgraded by a Canadian pajama blogger who forced NASA GISS to recant and revise their record. The specific there was the record for the U.S., not the global temperatures...though there are problems with those as well.

The average global temperature for 2009 is expected to be more than 0.4 degrees celsius above the long-term average, despite the continued cooling of huge areas of the Pacific Ocean, a phenomenon known as La Nina.
Yeah, well, we're now just entering into the negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, something different from La Nina and something that affects temperatures throughout the entire northern hemisphere. Temperatures will probably go down as far and as long as they did during the last negative phase ending in the 70's when folks were worried about a coming ice age.
