2009 to be one of warmest years on record: researchers

Next year is set to be one of the top-five warmest on record, British climate scientists said on Tuesday.

The average global temperature for 2009 is expected to be more than 0.4 degrees celsius above the long-term average, despite the continued cooling of huge areas of the Pacific Ocean, a phenomenon known as La Nina.

That would make it the warmest year since 2005, according to researchers at the Met Office, who say there is also a growing probability of record temperatures after next year.

Currently the warmest year on record is 1998, which saw average temperatures of 14.52 degrees celsius - well above the 1961-1990 long-term average of 14 degrees celsius.

The current ENSO (El Nino, La Nina) is neutral, and has been all spring into winter. (Google “ENSO current”)

http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/map/images/sst/sst.anom.gif

This is very important, because the very cold weather all over the northern hemisphere going on right now cannot be blamed on La Nina.

Right now, tracking the ENSO is critical, because if it goes into an El Nino pattern, it might be just a cool 2009. But if it goes into a La Nina pattern, this years cold will seem like summer in 2009. Cold beyond cold.

They were wrong.

Since you both basically said the same thing, here is what I think about them.

Keep repeating the same thing about the gore bull warming, and we may eventually be right.

I’m holding out hope that they over reach so far that the people will revolt ala Carter 1980! Once those higher electric bills start to roll in with unemployment rising and the expiring of the Bush tax cuts should shake them back to reality.

Shouldn’t those red lines be shifted more to the right?

I believe they have been slightly shifted to the right twice now. The next shift will also have to lower the predicted peak activity significantly. December has averaged close to 0 sunspots, so the next dot on that graph is closer to 0 and demonstrates that the predictive curves have been significantly incorrect.

Either the solar theory or the carbon theory (excuse me, gospel) should be shown to be a fraud. I can’t wait.

There is one thing that could affect the situation that is outside human or solar influence. If the Pacific Hot Spot gets significantly active it could cause a warming of the Pacific Ocean all by its self. An El Nino could cause an out of solar phase Global Warming similar to what may have occurred in 1998.

My predictions for 2009.

Franco will still be dead.

The Sun will rise in the east 365 times.

Obama will be Time magazine's “Man of the year.”

Time magazine's readership will decline.

A Nobel Prize will be awarded to a white person of western European extraction for accomplishing something that no rational Capitalist person would pay a minimum wage salary for the labor entailed.

We are all screwed.

Gee, I was hoping it would be the year when America woke up and smelled the roses.

As much as I’d like to be negative and pessimistic.........

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I saw another “Polar Bears in Peril” ad on Comedy Central last evening. It was pathetic. They made it look like they were drowning because all the ice at the poles were nearly completely gone.

They pleaded for donations to save them, like they were down to two bears or something. This has gone beyond rhetoric. It is now down to complete dishonesty and disinformation.

It was also very heavily funded and likely produced by all those idle movie cameras and technicians from Hollywierd.

An El Nino could cause an out of solar phase Global Warming similar to what may have occurred in 1998.

Ocean circulation doesn't create heat, just moves it around. El Niño could cause one area to get warmer, but something else must get colder in return, so there couldn't be net warming. The warm-ongers continually blame El Niño and La Niña for their prediction failures but they never point out where their excess heat is hiding out.
