NEW YORK (AP) A Long Island teenager has earned all 121 merit badges offered by the Boy Scouts of America. It's an accomplishment the local arm of the organization calls "an almost unheard-of feat."

So...When this young man's high standardized test scores raise the average of his local school, who will take the credit for the superior school? Yes! Of course! The teachers and principal will pat themselves on the back.
By the way...My son is an Eagle Scout. :-)
I hear that.
Congratulations to Mr. Goldsmith, Eagle Scout, from the proud father of two Eagles.
Hehe Don't feel bad. The BIGGEST reason, IMHO, people have so much trouble with Morse code, is they try to memorize "dots and dashes".
Much harder that way! Best to to learn Morse is by their "SOUND". NOT by dots and dashes......
There are several software/freeware programs that will help in this aspect.
Some of the BEST coders I have ever know are also pretty good musicians! There is a HIGH corrolation between the two languages, ie, music and Morse code. 73's! (dah-dah di di dit ; di di dit dah dah ) say it fast!!
I really appreciate having something positive to read about as the year ends.
That is exactly what that is, an interpreter strip.
Yep kinda like guys claiming they were some flavor of special forces.
But yea I'm an Eagle Scout. Still put it on my resume too even though I'm 36.
I wear one of these on my current uniform
Sidebar: Any scout leaders out there I highly recommend going to the scout office and buying at least the new belt. The new uniforms are nice, but the belt is the must have just for the buckle design.
Where were you when I was working on my First Class badge, Clipper?
I wear one too. Been an Eagle since August of 1970. I am the only cubs-scout den leader (getting back into scouts slowly with my 6yr old who is a Tiger this year) in our pack that is an Eagle. Our Scoutmaster is an Eagle too, but I also have the Arrow of Light that he does not. We are also the only two O of A members.
I believe that Colon Powell also earned all of the available merit badges when he was in scouts.
I guess he forgot the part about Loyalty in Scout Law:
"LOYAL: A Scout is true to his family, Scout leaders, friends, school, and nation."
Unless he’s smart enough to play “harmless” and say nothing of his actual background.
112 here.
The LDS scout troops turn our a pretty good number of Eagles each year. My troop was sponsored by the PTA at Hazel Goes Cook Elementary School in Chula Vista, CA. Troop 857.
I went after the radio and electronics merit badges early in my scouting years. The Morse code proficiency achieved for that merit badge made it simple to get my initial Tech class ham license. I have an Extra Class today. The music and bugling merit badges were helped along by playing trumpet in the band. The hardest exercise for me was getting good quality plaster casts of animal tracks for the nature merit badge. Helping a fellow scout for the Star service project was the most physical labor I recall on a project. We whacked the weeds and grass off over an acre of land surrounding a widow's home along Telegraph Canyon Rd. That improved her fire safety.
What does this thread have to do with homeschooling? You seem to have a need to explain away any achievement by a non-homeschooler. This post is a typical example - he’s *really* a homeschooler, because he’s homeschooling himself.
I’m not trying to be mean, but this obsessiveness is a sad way for you to live your life. Do you have friends, or have they grown tired of hearing it?

Do you have a Ph.D. in armchair psychology? ( Just wondering?)
I am the mother of an Eagle Scout so I know how much is involved in earning these badges and this work will benefit him not only in his institutional schooling, and standardized test scores, but also his personal and work life as well.
