Look for him to be a CEO, General/Admiral or Governor someday.

Or all three in some sequence. My former employer hosted the National Eagle Scout Convention while I worked there (early 90s), and I helped with giving directions, fetching things, making copies, etc. A stratospheric crowd of dignitaries.

I found another one after I noticed a patch in Hebrew on his uniform:

National Jewish Committee on Scouting Announces Scholarship Winners

Shawn A. Goldsmith
Oceanside, NY
Rick Arkans Eagle Scout Scholarship ($1,000)

On Shawn’s journey to become an Eagle Scout, he has earned 62 merit badges, the Ner Tamid, Etz Chaim and All Faith Awards. He has developed into an avid Conservationist and has been nominated for the Hornaday Award. Shawn has attended National Junior Leader Instructor Camp at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and the National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia. The activity that has had the greatest impact on his development is having staffed National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Ten Mile River Scout Camp in Narrowsburg, NY.

Shawn is a senior at Oceanside (NY) High School. Currently, Shawn is Editor in Chief and Advertising Director of his school’s newspaper. His other undertakings include serving as President of the Marine Science Club, Chief Marketing Officer of Student Entrepreneurs & Leaders, Secretary & Treasurer to his school’s Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Chapter, a volunteer of Big Buddies and Interact, and Student Ambassador to Middle School students. Shawn maintains a weighted grade point average of 100 and has taken ten Advanced Placement courses.

Shawn has lead numerous environmental community projects such as instituting a Long Island Storm Drain Awareness campaign, restoring the Oceanside Marine Nature Study area, and investigating the Long Island Power Authority’s off-shore wind farm project. Shawn’s storm drain awareness campaign began when he was an intern at the Long Island office of U.S. Senator Charles Schumer and he then continued this endeavor with his DECA team where he competed in Atlanta, Georgia. There he became an International Finalist.

Shawn has not yet decided which university he will attend in September.

Wow! I earned my 31st 38yrs ago. But I still wear a Scout uniform.
________

a ping to my high school, and still great friend (and bandmate), and freeper, Blue Crab, who can do you one better.

He can still fit into the exact same scout uniform he wore when he earned his eagle scout in, 1976 or 1977.

What say you, blue crab?

I've always wondered what would happen on, say, "Survivor," if a grown-up Eagle scout were to be part of the competition. I figure he'd walk away with the prize, decimating the competition, or get tired of their constant whining, go nutty, and manage to find creative, yet organic, ways to off them.

Either way, it would be interesting.

The Binghamton University freshman was awarded his final badges on Dec. 19. He said he hopes to become a businessman and politician.

I think the Hebrew patch reflects language proficiency/interpreter. Yet another important accomplishment. The skills I learned in scouting have served me well. In many respects, better than the college degree.

I think the Hebrew patch reflects language proficiency/interpreter.

Or it could be one of his Jewish religious awards. The article CD posted mentioned he'd earned more than one.

Nope, I’m wrong - it’s in the spot for the “interpreter” patch.

Well, what I’ve learned from selling Cub Scout popcorn in front of WalMart with my two Cub Scouts (I have 2 Cub Scouts and 1 Boy Scout, 2nd class, at present) is that FAR too many men *claim* to have achieved the Eagle Rank than I believe is statistically probable.

what would happen on, say, "Survivor," if a grown-up Eagle scout were to be part of the competition.

He'd be voted off the island in short order ... too much of a threat to the others.
