An offensive, racially tinged song entitled Barack the Magic Negro has become an issue in the battle for the leadership of the Republican party.
The song was included in a CD distributed by Chip Saltman, who is seeking to be elected the next party chairman.
Saltman, former campaign manager for Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor who fought unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination this year, sent out the CD as a Christmas present to party members. It is a compilation of songs critical of liberals entitled We Hate the US.
He defended his move, saying that anyone listening to it would know it was intended to be light-hearted and satirical, and the row had been created by the liberal media.
But his main rival for the post, Mike Duncan, the present incumbent, issued a statement saying: "The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party. I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."
The song gained prominence last year when Rush Limbaugh, the rightwing radio show host, began airing it.

Can anyone post the lyrics please?
6 months late (or so) on this .....
The song was written by a liberal in praise of 0bama. Any re[ublican getting their knickers in twist is no conservative. Republicans have no need to take any blame for this crap.
Is your google broken? Here you go:
Barack the Magic Negro Lyrics
Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
Cause hes not authentic like me.
Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper
Said he makes guilty whites feel good
Theyll vote for him, and not for me
Cause hes not from the hood.
See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,
Or me, or Farrakhan
Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.
Not come in late and won!
Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
Cause hes black, but not authentically.
Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
Cause hes black, but not authentically.
Some say Baracks articulate
And bright and new and clean.
The media sure loves this guy,
A white interlopers dream!
But, when you vote for president,
Watch out, and dont be fooled!
Dont vote the Magic Negro in
Cause
Cause I wont have nothing after all these years of sacrifice
And I wont get justice. This is about justice. This isnt about me, its about justice.
Its about buffet. I dont have no buffet and there wont be any church contributions,
And therell be no cash in the collection plate.
There aint gonna be no cash money, no walkin around money, no phoning money.
Now, Barack going to come in here and ........
Searched for the song on youtube (owned by google). It’s been yanked. What a surprise.
A friend of mine was the midmorning guy on WRKO. A Liberal white woman called up to protest his use of the word Negro. My friend is Black.
The song is straight from the collective Liberal mouth. . .Strange how they cannot get the genesis right on this; ever. . .
The fact that they are offended is offensive! The 'song' was based on ACTUAL news reports and quotes by some of the beloved leadership of 'black America' who were railing against Barry - who they claim did not have enough black background for THEIR tastes. There was really not much parody to the song based on the facts as published by the MSM. I guess a mirror (or a well-focused microscope) does not suit them or the folks who were offended.
As Bill Bennett once stated "Politics ain't bean bag!"
BO is about to find out just how much "fun" it is to be be held up to ridicule by many for his speech patterns and grammar gaffs (remember "W" and all of the constant snarky remarks by the MSM and other "enlightened elites (including many in the RNC circles").
Just remember BO worshipers, what goes around comes around. Oh sure, maybe NOT within the ranks of the MSM and academia but talk radio and the Internet will take sheer delight in parodies, cartoons and continuous humor directed at "the Messi-uh!"
Hmmm?
Wonder if this is she.
It’s supposed to be Al Sharpton singing it because he’s jealous of another black man getting to be President. Any media who doesn’t put THAT in context is a propaganda machine for the Democrat Party, who for decades was the party of segregation and the KKK.
The fact remains that Huckabee was more conservative than McCain, yet you probably voted for McCain. Stop the hypocrisy.
quite frankly, if he can’t take it why is he running for office?
Notice that that link came from a KOS site, and how lathered up they are?
Cluelessness reigns over at the GOP I see.
Let’s say the pubbies repudiate this song and condemn it in the strongest possible terms. And just what will that get them with black voters?
Absolutely NOTHING.
