President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening.

"Just wanted to say hi, hey guys," Obama said as he walked into the Anderson dining hall which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

The diners represented seven military units—Marine and Navy—some of whom were joined by their families for Christmas dinner.

As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

“Chances are slim to none. Our military is made up of professionals, not banana republicans.

It would have to be beyond bad for them to move against a constitutionally elected president.”

Like maybe a Reichstag fire, declaration of martial law and suspension of the Constitution?

Mine were clapping too. If I don’t walk in with a pan of hot bread rolls, they don’t even open the door. Family tradition....

"Want to bet they blame it on the Secret Service?”
It’d be easier for them to just blame it on racisim, the old standby bugaboo

that would be hard to do, since the Marine Corps is almost 30% black Americans!

Especially the grunts! Not too many black guys wanted to be air wingers or mechanics back in the day, I would think they'd be jumping on it now; fly all day, wipe rotors at night, get treated like kings due to your MOS, have enlisted salute you because they dont know a flight suit is worn by enlisted also...

Did they treat us radar operators like that?? NNOooo....( hey, SOMEbody had to sit in those air conditioned vans...)

The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

The diners were polite because (a)they largely come from areas of the country where politeness is the norm and (b)if not, the military trains them to be polite.

This is something the 52.8% should have thought about before they voted for Oba Mao. Those who didn't make up about 70% of the volunteer military and an even bigger percentage of those who do the dirty work and heavy lifting which needs to be done.

Well .. their actions have resulted in a lot of them losing almost 50% of their advertising revenue.

They continue with the same ignorant policies at their own peril.

know it will be hard, especially for the military personnel who have been bred to kill and not to care.

You mean they got a mommy and daddy together to create a killing machine? Say it ain't so, Joe! OMG, it's like the movie "Universal Soldier"!

Where do they find asshats like this? Talk about brainwashed. Jim Bess hasn't a single clue.

Could it be that American soldiers have a BIG problem with a Commander in Chief who has the same name as many of the people who are trying to kill them?

If I have a big problem with it- I KNOW Marines do.

The notion that the greatest threat from America will come from within is as least as old as Lincoln’s “House Divided” speech. And if elements of the 82nd ABN Division left Fort Bragg for Detroit in 1967 it was on orders from Democratic President Lyndon Johnson, not by the Pentagon on their own initiative.

A military coup is unlikely, but they’re worried. They have good reason. If he were MY incoming CnC - that promised “civilian defense force” that’s as well funded and well armed as our military would scare the beejeebers out of me, and I’d be worrying that all the progress in the WoT is about to be undone by the guy who promised to stand with the Muslims against the US.

it is sad to think that the left is so utterly clueless as to what real people are like.....mind boggling that they are so out of touch.

They've left the military alone because they don't understand it

Communism is really a form of military life imposed on everybody. In the military everyone is assigned a job they can't quit whenever they want to, there is government owned housing and free medical care, nobody gets rich, and everyone must pay homage to the higher up elites and cannot publicly speak ill of them. I'm surprised the left hates the military so much since it is the most successful model of their Utopia.

This is how they cope with “leaders” who care more about the enemy then they do about their own troops:

‘Jack Broughton’s story is well-known. While he was serving as vice commander of the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW) at Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base in 1967, he destroyed gun camera film to save his pilots from certain conviction at a court-martial. Two of his ‘Thud’ (Republic F-105D Thunderchief) fighter jocks had been sent out to bomb a rail line near Cam Pha Harbor in North Vietnam. The harbor itself was designated as one of McNamara’s’sanctuaries,’ areas that were supposed to be off-limits for American missions. When AAA (anti-aircraft artillery) opened up on his aircraft, the pilot of the lead Thud, Major Ted Tolman, quickly decided that he did not want to become a POW resident of the Hanoi Hilton. When shot at, he decided to shoot back. In bringing his Vulcan 20mm cannon to bear on the AAA gun emplacements on the shore, Tolman’s gun camera caught the Soviet cargo ship Turkestan dead center in his sights.
There is no evidence to this day–no real proof–that any 20mm rounds hit Turkestan. But it was widely understood that such a violation of McNamara’s sanctuary policy would lead to an automatic court-martial for Major Tolman and his wingman, Major Lonnie Ferguson. For Jack Broughton, then acting as commander of the 355th TFW in the temporary absence of its commander, the answer to the problem was obvious: destroy the only incriminating evidence, the gun camera film, thus ensuring that the ‘wheels’–the Air Force military bureaucrats in Honolulu, the Philippines and Guam–would not see it.
Pacific Air Force (PACAF) commander General John D. Ryan, who would later become Air Force chief of staff, initiated court-martial proceedings against Broughton, Tolman and Ferguson for conspiracy against the U.S. government. By accepting responsibility for his pilots, Broughton ensured a ‘not guilty’ finding for them, but he was convicted on the much lesser charge of destruction of government property–i.e., the gun camera cassette, which was worth $5.
Broughton appealed his conviction, and the court-martial was voided. One observer on the Board for the Correction of Military Records called the court-martial ‘the grossest example of injustice in history.’ As Broughton himself wrote in his book, Going Downtown: The War Against Hanoi and Washington, ‘I found it interesting that in the entire history of the United States flying forces, only one other officer had ever had a general court-martial set aside and voided. His name was Billy Mitchell.’

“His Highness will make them pay for that.”

I was thinking that, too. He`ll take it out on the military.

military resistance would start with the refusal of obviously unlawful orders.

Not to worry, the Nazifacation of our troops will be very "Progressive". It will go something like this, first they'll be asked to direct traffic, followed by check-points, followed by sweeping neighborhoods house to house for weapons, followed by rounding up undesirables, followed by ..........
