Israel's air force fired around 20 missiles at targets in Gaza City on Saturday, causing heavy damage, a Reuters witness said. The IDF has confirmed the report. (Hanan Greenberg and Reuters)

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “JERUSALEM, Dec. 25 — Israel moved closer to invading the Gaza Strip, saying Thursday that it had wrapped up preparations for a broad offensive after Palestinian fighters fired about 100 rockets and mortar shells across the border in two days.”
Actually, Israel had incoming 80 + rockets and 20 or so mortars before they did anything. That’s like turning the other cheek 100 times at least.
If Mexico did that to the USA; how many rockets and mortars, explosives of various types would it take before we respond?
I hope we never have to find out.

Since Israel withdrew from Gaza a few years back, Hamas has launched over 5,000 rockets/mortars at Israel.

Take your first picture and multiply several thousand times over.
Then you would actually get a bit closer to reality.
I wouldn’t be surprised, since these attacks are aimed at police stations, that this is really an attack on Hamas; and that FATAH and the PLA are not unhappy with them.
And that an attempt will be made by FATAH and the PLA
to re-establish their own control over Gaza as soon as Hamas’ forces have been decimated by Israel.
IOW, Olmert is helping out the PLA, so that once the PLA controls Gaza again, the “road to peace” can continue.
(I don’t ascribe any good motives to Olmert at this point...)

After Olmert’s weak Lebanon debacle, I wouldn’t put anything past him.
Regardless of the motivation though, I won’t shed a single tear for Hamas.
