by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu
Follow Israel news on and .

SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) Jerusalem Arabs clashed with police in at least two locations in the eastern parts of the city early Tuesday morning as Arab leaders warned of a renewal of the Intifada and Muslim clerics incited worshippers.

Police in riot gear have deployed at flash points in the city to try to prevent further disturbances. Arabs attacked the Jewish residence called Beit Yehonatan, across the road from the Western Wall (Kotel), causing damage to the building but no injuries.

Two Border Police officers suffered light wounds in a rock-throwing attack at the same location, and of them was rushed to a Jerusalem hospital for treatment. Arabs burned tires and threw rocks at police in the Shuefat neighborhood.”

IDF official: Neither Israel nor PA wants more conflict; police chief: This will not lead to third intifada.

.

After Hamas declared an official “day of rage” leading to clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces across Jerusalem on Tuesday, the violence seemed also to spread to other parts of the country.

Assailants in the central Israeli city of Jaffa hurled rocks at two public buses, cracking the back window of one of them. Rocks were also thrown at a truck near Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev in the south and at two vehicles in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Dor. There were no casualties in any of the incidents.

A senior Israel Defense Forces officer said that despite the outbreak of violence, neither the Palestinian Authority nor Israel was interested in seeing a renewal of conflict. “Everyone understands that we can’t let this region fall into unbridled violence,” he said.

Dozens of Palestinians fought with Israeli police earlier Tuesday in Jerusalem in response to Hamas’ call to protest Israel’s consecration of an ancient synagogue in the city the day before.

“Air Force strikes in Gaza”

SNIPPET: “IDF retaliates for deadly Qassam attack: Air Force hits several Gaza targets, including metal foundry, smuggling tunnel; Vice PM Shalom says Israel to offer strong response to rocket attack that killed Thai worker Thursday”

SNIPPET: “IDF aircraft struck at least four targets in the Gaza Strip on Friday, a day after a rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave killed a Thai worker in Israel, Hamas security officials and witnesses said.”

SNIPPET: “Israel also sent a letter of complaint to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who is due to visit Israel at the weekend, and to the UN Security Council.

A previously unknown group, Ansar al-Sunna, believed to share the hardline ideology of al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the rocket fire at Israel, as well as the al-Aqsa Martrys Brigades, a wing of the Fatah movement.

Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said that Israel holds Hamas accountable for attacks originating in the Gaza Strip regardless of the group that commits them.”
