War On Terror: The jihadists who plotted to kill American soldiers have been convicted. Their apologists say this was racial profiling and entrapment, and that they weren't serious. Fortunately, we were.

The Fort Dix Six are going to prison, with five convicted of conspiracy to murder U.S. servicemen and facing possible life sentences. Four were also convicted of weapons charges. A sixth member of the group charged only with weapons charges pleaded guilty earlier. It was a signal of victory in the war on terror. It was also treated by the left as paranoia in search of a real threat.

In the post 9/11 world, charges of racial profiling were common with fearful tales of Muslims being hounded simply because of their ethnicity. Add to that the belief that these men were the gang who couldn't shoot straight, incapable of actually killing trained American soldiers at Fort Dix.

The six men had travelled to the Poconos, where they practiced firing automatic weapons at a shooting range in Gouldsboro, Pa. They recorded footage of themselves shooting their weapons amid shouts of Allahu Akbar (God is great).

On Jan. 31, 2006, the men took the video to a Circuit City store in Mount Laurel, N.J., to transfer the footage to DVD. An employee of the store, aware this wasn't your usual boys night out, was concerned. "Dude, I just saw some really weird s---," the clerk frantically told his co-worker. "I don't know what to do. Should I call someone or is that racist?"

2007 Fort Dix attack plot

A group of six radical Islamist[1] men, allegedly plotting to stage an attack on the Fort Dix military base in New Jersey, United States, were arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on May 7, 2007. They were subsequently charged with planning an attack against U.S. soldiers. The alleged aim of the six men was said to be to "kill as many soldiers as possible".[2] Their trial began on October 20, 2008. [3]

Opening arguments were presented on October 20, 2008.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick said the defendants were inspired by jihad saying "Their motive was to defend Islam. Their inspiration was Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

James Yee, a former Muslim chaplain in the U.S. Army, worries that the convictions will harm our relations with the Muslim world. "All of this doesn't build trust with the American Muslim community," he complains, "and that is vital if our law enforcement is going to fight terrorism."

When the "American Muslim community" rises up and condemns jihadis like these six -- and Yee with them -- then I may start to give a damn what the "American Muslim community" thinks.
