ARE you afraid that the eco nomic downturn could get out of hand? I mean, really out of hand?
Well, don't worry.
The US Army War College is on the case - ready to handle "unforeseen economic collapse" and the "rapid dissolution of public order in all or significant parts of the US."
And you thought we were just dealing with a recession!
In a report published Nov. 4 - just in time for the holiday season - the War College's Strategic Studies Institute posited a number of shocks that the country should be prepared for, including unrest caused by the economy's failure.
The report has a snappy title, "Known Unknowns: Unconventional 'Strategic Shocks' in Defense Strategy Development," and was written by Nathan Freier, a visiting professor at the college. The foreword was written by Col. John A. Kardos, director of the Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute.
Freier lists a number of possible things we should worry about - because we probably don't have enough of our own - including run-of-the-mill terrorism and the fact that China and Russia could align against us politically and economically.
"Some of the most plausible defense-relevant strategic shocks remain low-probability events," Freier soft-pedals before going on to scare the hell out of us.
The War College says "widespread civil violence inside the US would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security."
Among things Freier wants us to worry about are "deliberate employment of weapons of mass destruction. . . unforeseen economic collapse, loss of functioning political and legal order, purposeful domestic resistance or insurgency and catastrophic natural and human disasters."
Oh, and by the way, have a Merry Christmas!

Even LEO’s take a oath to the Constitution.

Like maybe domestic resistance to Barry and his Civilian Defense Force goons? Or resistance to National Guard troops running wild and ILLEGALLY seizing guns like in New Orleans after Katrina?
No wonder they RATS & RINOs are pushing for a new and "improved" AWB. There can't be any resistance when we only have Spitballs and Slingshots. Well, Molon Labe Barry - Lock and Load 'my friend'.
Oh (blank). What am I talking about. I lost all my guns last month. Really. I was cleaning them and put them in the clothes dryer to dry and -- POOF! --- they all disappeared (getting my rifles in there was a bit tricky).
(But on the upside some lost socks from 1987 reappeared!)
Mistake? Yes by the agitators, there would have been no confrontation without them.
Not a policy? Of course it was a policy to confront the kind of violence that started days earlier. The Guard did not get called up that day, walk on campus and start firing.
Folks the Ayers-Dohrn bombers and various actual and wanna be murderers were on virtually every campus. I was surprised to hear that the Guard carried ammo for their M-1s but would anyone be willing to be pelted with objects heavy enough to kill? Those old W.W.II steel pots and liners were noting like the headgear today. Fatigues was the uniform -- no better than jeans and a good shirt to protect against flying bricks and whatever.
Some claim to have a recording: "Right here! Get Set! Point! Fire!"
"The recording captures the 13 seconds of gunfire more than 60 shots were fired that left four students dead and nine others wounded."
"Right here!" Right here? There was all kinds of commotion and people swarming all around throwing rocks and the like at the Gruardsmen -- plus the usual crowd of on-lookers. Right here? Where?!
"Point!" Point? Is it necessary to comment about "point"?
According to one source:
"Families of the victims spent the next several years trying to pin the responsibility for the Kent State tragedy on Governor Rhodes and the Ohio Guard. Criminal trials in both federal and state court were either dismissed or ended in acquittals. (Civil lawsuits filed by survivors and families of the four dead students were eventually consolidated into one: Scheuer vs. Rhodes.) A civil trial for wrongful death and injury failed when the judge excluded key evidence and the jury decided against awarding damages to the parents; but the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati overturned the verdict because of jury tampering and a second civil trial began in 1978. On January 4, 1979, an out of court settlement was reached. The State of Ohio awarded the plaintiffs $675,000 in damages along with a statement of "regret" (not an apology or admission of wrongdoing)"
...unforeseen...purposeful domestic resistance...
In other words, we are going to curtail certain inalienable rights that the smart people (in this country) like to exercise in the interest of national security, equality and social justice...
This just keeps getting better and better...
Gen. Douglas MacArthur and aide Maj. D. D. Eisenhower overseeing the breakup of the Bonus Army protesters in 1932 |
Members of the California Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and even the 82nd Airborne were involved in the New Orleans gun confiscations. Sickening and outrageous.
I am in full agreement with you if he is legit. The problem is that, up to now, he has not to had to prove his legitimacy and I do not foresee that he will be forced to do so in the future.
Congress and SCOTUS seem to be willing to circumvent the Constitution just for his sake. However, if they do it for him now, they will do it again in the future.
You bet yer sweet bippy...
...to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foriegn and domestic...
There is nowhere in that oath that required us to “uphold” or even understand the Constitution outside those specific parameters...
I happened to explore outside the box in many deep thoughts I had over the years about the Constitution not only being inspired words on a piece of parchment...It also meant “people” (the citizens) to me...
There will be places around this country that will be easier pickings for those (in what might be any surviving segments of our government) that want to drastically engage some that don’t really agree with certain courses of action in this case...
I’m hoping it never gets to that point...I’m pretty sure it won’t, but all of this tells me there are people with too much time on their hands to plan for this contingiency...
We will be required to fetch a “schrubbery”...
As terms for our required, mandatory community service under the new dictato...uhhh, administration...
There should have been Kents in every state and thus we would not have today one of the major political parties run by the 1960s street rabble and their ideological issue.
The few deaths here would IMO have prevented most of the deaths following the crushing defeat of the commies resulting from their 1968 Tet Offensive. The few deaths would have denied the North Vietnamese Communists their most valuable guerrilla base: universities and the MSM.
If the Guard couldn't do it then the regulars should have been deployed and got the job done 40 years ago and that's been my opinion for 40 years.
The greatest fear mongers are the Third Party loons.
9/11 Truthers pushing the US not IslamOfascists at fault.
I don’t like big Gov. but the loons see big Gov. in any and every thing to the point of don’t let the fire dept. put out the fire in your home, they are part of the gov.
re Iraq. Having many relatives who have been there several tours since 2003 and knowing dozens of others,
they know why we have fought in Iraq.
Some don’t like us there as the Bath Party is an offshoot of the Nazi Party and don’t want their fellow Nazis hurt.
As said before, Gov’t is the largest one pushing that. Bailouts, Iraq, etc.
As per third party. Big deal. The R's and D's have been running this Republic and they have almost completely ran it to the ground.
Congress is controlled by Democrats so you know what they will do.
In fact, even when there were more Republicans that Democrats in Congress, the Democrats were still in control.
Nice to see some facts on this thread.
It looks like many of the loons wern’t alive or very young
in the 1960s as the William Ayers, and his Wheathermen
and other Marxists were in the streets by the thousands
over those yrs. and also demonstrating on the univs.
It was a battle zone.
Also the Civil Rights demonstrations and the cities of Detriot, LA, parts of NY, etc were burning during those
years. Blocks and blocks of center cities going up in flames.
Thank goodness for the Army, National Guard, etc. who spent
time on the streets during those years helping to
defend good Americans from the Marxists bombers & shooters.
Many on FR don’t have a clue about the 60s to early 70s
or they wouldn’t show such ignornance
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).
BTW, it is also repeatedly made very clear to every soldier and Marine, that he is never to follow any unlawful order. ...same—even more so—to the officers.
More and more of this.
The MSM is telegraphing something. Guess we should be prepared for some unrest.
