Resistance to Kennedy Grows Among Democrats

ALBANY — Resistance is emerging among Democratic officials against Caroline Kennedy as she pursues Hillary Rodham Clinton’s seat in the United States Senate, with Gov. David A. Paterson bristling over suggestions that her selection is inevitable, according to his advisers, and other leading Democrats concerned that she is too beholden to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

The governor is frustrated and chagrined, the advisers said, because he believes that he extended Ms. Kennedy the chance to demonstrate her qualifications but that her operatives have exploited the opportunity to convey a sense that she is all but appointed already. He views this as an attempt to box him in, the advisers said.

“You have people going around saying, ‘Oh yeah, it’s a done deal,’ ” said one of the advisers, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the selection process and did not want to anger the governor. “The quickest way to not get something you want is to step into somebody’s face.”

The governor’s frustration follows reports last week that Kevin Sheekey, a top deputy to Mr. Bloomberg who has been advising Ms. Kennedy, had called a labor leader and told him that Ms. Kennedy was going to be senator, “so get on board now,” and that a member of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s staff was helping Ms. Kennedy reach out to unions.

Sum total of her qualifications...

Oh yeah, even Democrats see it.

Indeed, she thinks that the sperm lottery (i.e. being born a Kennedy) makes her qualified to be an overlord.

There is no percentages for the Rats in appointing Caroline to the Senate. The only people who would be wowed by the thought of “Camelot” are the mindless freakazoids who are going to vote Rat no matter what. Paterson would be better off appointing a more centrist Rat in order to court the moderates.

Princess Caroline won’t be happy to hear this.

Question: why don’t libs (who think that the rich have it too easy) let rich elites run their party?

Did you maybe mean to ask “why do...”?

As in, why do class warfare marxists, let landed idle rich bourgoise, run their socialist revolution?

Like that?

I think New York should go ahead and admit that one of their two senator positions is reserved for “BIG NAME” players (either in state or out-of-state”)...and just advertise plainly to the public there.

For those of you who think this is Caroline’s final stop...think again. She was a nobody that was brought in to head the Obama VP search...which there can be no logical explanation for her sudden appearance in a position like this...except she is “destined” like the Obama.

So I think the general plan has been, for the past six months...to get Biden into the VP position and play out four years. Senator Caroline would then be asked to serve as VP for Obama in the second four years. The entire team around Obama is playing with this scenario and expect the cards to fall this way. The third part of this segment...is the 2016 race where VP Caroline runs as the Presidential choice and ensures another eight year period.

The only problem is...about half of New York state (more like 90 percent of upstate New York)...doesn’t care for Caroline or the Kennedy name. It’d be far easier for the Ted-to-die event in Mass to occur and for her to get appointed there. Apparently, she has no interest in returning to the Mass region and wants to play out this New York game.

I suspect the governor and half of the big wigs of the state Democratic party just aren’t playing along with the scenario. Like Blago...they are expecting a promise of something...and it just isn’t coming forth. If I were the governor...I’d name Andrew Cuomo or Bloomberg as the replacement.

Palin’s gonna interrupt this grand scheme.

Mid-stride.

No WAY Obama will set Schlossberg or whatever her name is, up for a run in 2012. Ain’t gonna happen. He’s too narcissistic, and too much about ego. As are all Dems.

So he’s gonna sit on that shelf. Holding her back.

While Palin kicks them both to the curb.

Let’s get started...

I wish that it’s also Senator Ted Kennedy that this article is talking about! How sick does the political left have to get, when they won’t even seriously encourage Ted Kennedy to now step down, due to his brain tumor, but they would rather have Ted die in office instead? It’s not like Massachusetts, with it’s leftist super majority of voters, would not replace Ted with another leftist Democrat.

“Indeed, she thinks that the sperm lottery (i.e. being born a Kennedy) makes her qualified to be an overlord.”

Yeah, don’t all the Kennedys have that same attitude of entitlement. No surprise there. What is surprising is the Dems apparently don’t want her. What’s up with that?

Someone made the point today that Caroline is probably extremely wealthy. She has now probably inherited her father’s fortune, her mother’s fortune (with Onassis money), and her brother’s fortune.

I don’t think the nation is served well by the do gooder, guilt-ridden, white inheritors of great wealth serving in Congress. They have a very distorted view of the world and very little understanding of the economic situation of their fellow citizens, whether affluent or poor. They just want to do good and right all the imagined wrongs and injustices that bounce around in their pampered little heads.

I read the Wikipedia entry on Caroline and it says she never changed her name, that it is still legally Caroline Kennedy. Does anyone know for certain?

:Although she is often incorrectly referred to as “Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg,” she did not change her name when she married.”

In the “Personal Life” section:
