Having been inspired by reading the President-Elect's biography to her daughter, Letrice Titus personally contacted Obama's publishers for copies of the book for Syracuse students.
Some Syracuse students have something new to read in the upcoming school year.
"This is really an inspiring story about a mother who [has] read about Obama to her daughter, and then trying to take that experience through the Syracuse City School District," says former City Councilman Mike Atkins.
Atkins joined Letrice Titus and Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney at Bellvue and Lincoln middle schools Monday morning.
"It's relevant to their lives...it's not often that you can find a president now that has similar issues..." says Letrice Titus, who personally contacted the publishers of President-Elect Barack Obama's biography for distribution to the Syracuse School District.
The group distributed President-Elect Barack Obama's biography, Yes We Can, a donation Titus obtained through the book's publisher.
Each school received 50 books that will be available to and rotated among its students.

What’s new? Just look at the commemorative plate being hawked on TV. It’s disgusting.
Her name gives away her agenda.
Obama’s biography? Should be a pretty short read, based on what he’s released...
I’m guessing it will say nothing about place of birth...
I’ll bet that few if any of these ‘students’ know anything significant about any of the Founding Fathers except perhaps that they were all Old White Guys and SLAVE OWNERS!!!
It’s in the Fiction section.
Or anything about his time in Indonesia going by the name Barry Soetoro and being listed as a Muslim when going to school.
Big print, pretty pictures, the stuff of legend. Or myth, I get 'em confused.
Didn't see that one, but I did see Obama's mug painted on the Washington dollar coin and the Kennedy half-dollar. I wonder how many suckers are wasting money on these soon-to-be-priceless "collectibles."
I don’t know, maybe it will say he is the 12th Imam.
Funny and true story. Our neighbor worked at a hospital as a birthing nurse. One night they had a baby born and the delivery went unremarkably. Well as a gift before the mother leaves a gift basket is sent to the new mother and baby. The nurse asked the mother what they named the strapping 8lb baby boy...she said Lemangello. The nurse forwarded the info onto the company which makes up giftbaskets. The basket arrives later that afternoon and the basket contained flowers, chocolates, diapers, formula and jello. Puzzled the nurses asked the mother what the jello was for...the African American mother looked miffed. The card said ...Welcome Lemon Jello and Mother. Everytime I hear that story I laugh.
They “don’t have time to teach pre-civil war history”.
Mostly because there are too may references to the founding principles (Creator, Creation, source of fundamental rights) and documents prior to the destruction of those concepts post civil war.

I’m sure this mom found the biographies of Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Condeleza Rice, not so inspiring.
Millions. The one I mentioned at one point shows a guy sitting at his desk writing a letter, bills, whatever. He glances to his left where the plate is prominently displayed, then returns to his work with a smug grin on his face. I won't go into my thoughts on seeing this...
Of course, you can get the plate for the unheard of price of only $19.95...or is it $19.99. Yep, the same as virtually everything else sold on TV.
Coke and pot use. Rejection by his mother and fathers. Growing up as a street kid in Jakarta. Associating with a racist conspiracy minded hate monger for 20 years. Associating with a proud communist traitor who's organization engaged in domestic terrorism.
Who among us share these issues and want American children to be raised appreciating them?
Yeah, true story, no sh!t...
Snopes has an interesting article on that and other names, but curiously, they don’t give a “status” (true or false).
I heard another one the other day - about a kid biting a balloon and choking on the rubber when it popped. I told the lady that was warning us of this danger that it was an urban legend and she insisted that it happened to her cousin’s kid.
Notice how you are only permitted to worship the living deity, the Obamessiah, in our schools.
Isn’t an Obama biography exactly like a Unitarian Bible?
