Arianna Huffington: Post hostess By Choire Sicha December 21, 2008
Arianna Huffington shuttles between New York, home of the Huffington Post offices, and Los Angeles, where her youngest daughter is in high school...
LATTE: With the rise of the Campbell Brown "No B.S." hour and Rachel Maddow, now TV news is more op-ed page than front page. Is this a good thing?
HuffnStuff: It's absolutely a good thing. Also, just the question presupposes there is something inherently wrong with a journalist or a newscaster having an opinion, which is a continuation, for me, of the misperception of the highest calling of a journalist being neutrality. In fact the highest calling of a journalist is finding out the truth, wherever the truth lies. . . . And that's very different than we get from Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, which is opinion completely disconnected from fact.
---snip ----
LAT: What was the most under-covered story of 2008?
Huffy: I think the most under-covered story for me was: How did we get here? How did we get suddenly, or appear suddenly, in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression? And exactly how did all these billions of dollars disappear? I think most immediately, the most under-covered story is how are the billions of bailout money being spent.
LAT: That's where newspapers are failing. Why isn't an entire desk devoted to covering the bailout?
Huffy: Because you know they've been a certain way for so long. It's harder for newspapers that have all these traditions to course-correct, or try something new. And also, increasingly, with all the layoffs in newspapers, distributed journalists are the way to go. Inviting your readers to also be reporting what's happening.

Hahahahaha. What a mystery - maybe because they have to tell the truth about their own degenerate, corrupt and double dealing thugs in the Demo-Rat party?
"Huffy: Because you know they've been a certain way for so long..."
Yeah, Huffy, it's called socialist/marxist activism...
Helful Handyman Hint: If you need to make sure your wall mount TV is level, just tune into MSNBC, especially during Olberman’s show, and if the drool is running out of both sides of his mouth, the TV’s level.
Next month we’ll tell you how to check the electrical systems in your home by tuning in to see which of Chris Matthew’s leg “tingles” when he see Obama.
Your post gave me a much needed chuckle. Thanks!
I was thinking about her just the other day. Why would anyone of any political stripe trust her?
She ran her husband as a Republican to the US Senator from CA. Then as the GOP looked less viable in CA, she “became” a lefty, but not before running for govenor of CA as an independent?
She clearly is just willing to do whatever it takes to get power. So why would any lefty trust her or her site?
You’re entirely welcome. If we forget how to laugh, we’ll never make it through. Something happened today at home to cause a major mess for me. My teenage daughter asked me why I could laugh at it. I told her my choices were limited to laughing, screaming my head off or crying. Laughing seemed the most pleasant and useful option.
“Big Poor” ran off with the billions of $...”Big Poor” took the loans from the bankers and the dems and squandered the money
Very astute.
After she finished with her husband, he ended up playing for the other 'team'.
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful Wife
And you may ask yourself-well...how did I get here?
Even a stopped clock and all that.
What an incredibly stupid, naive and ignorant woman. The problem with "journalists" is their inability to report facts that don't agree with their opinions. As such, they and the work they do cannot be trusted. So much for truth...
It's important to realize that most of those billions of dollars never existed in any real sense. They were an illusion, a credit bubble. They didn't "disappear" because they were never really here.
I completely agree.
A good number of my friends and family think I’m a bubble off center because I choose humor over tears or rage. It works almost every time, though.
Sorry about your domestic crises, but you sound like a master of managing crises.
In your case, I think by marrying rich and divorcing well.
Not exactly a major crisis. Went to lift a bag of dog food out of the trunk of the car and the bottom opened up, filling the trunk with dog food. I guess it would be a crisis if the dog found ot he was eating food I cleaned up out of the trunk of my car, but he never comes here to FreeRepublic. I think he does go to porn sites like Dogocratic Underground when I’m not home, though.
I know what you mean. My crew gets a little dogmatic from time to time. They are basically socialists that think they should be fed and housed at my expense.
I try to limit their internet access.....but I have so little control. :)
Same as it ever was....
