LONDON (AFP) — A Bosnian Muslim waitress has demanded compensation from the London bar where she worked over a red dress she was asked to wear, British media reported Thursday.
Fata Lemes, 33, told an employment tribunal that she felt forced to wear the sleeveless dress with a low neckline and an open back, thought the Rocket bar was run like a "sex club" and filed for 20,000 pounds in compensation......

Well, I’m just mad. I go through this all the time at work. I manage a Garden Center and we’re located on the edge of “The Hood.”
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had “women of color” come in and COMPLAIN (YES, LOUDLY! SO ALL CAN HEAR!) about the fact that we don’t have ENOUGH PEOPLE OF COLOR working for us. (Lady? If you can’t get your son off the couch and out the door for work in the morning, what makes you think that I can?)
If we could find ONE that would actually show up for work on time, not drunk or high, we’d CHERISH them.
Up to now, every one we’ve hired has either stolen from us or come to work drunk or high. (Liability issues.)
So, maybe this DOES hit a nerve. I dislike people that think they’re ‘special’ and deserve preferential treatment based upno race or religion.

If I was offered a job and told I couldn't wear anything from the waist up, I wouldn't take the job. Not work a week or two then sue. If that's what that business does, then it does. Go get a job that suits you better if you don't like the requirements of that job.
If I went to a bar and was served by somebody in a burka, I'd leave. I simply don't do business with those people.

I, like you, said, "Gee, sorry you find working here objectionable, find another job!"
Unfortunately, even FR is not devoid of hypocrisy.
See, if it's a Muslim with religious objections, or a pacifist with conscientious objections, we're supposed to trash the objection. But we're supposed to think it's just peachy that The State makes a rule that allows an anti-abortion employee to object, and ignore what -they- were hired to do.
Sigh.
It's a free country... people should get a job that suits their beliefs, whatever they are. There's pretty much guaranteed to be one somewhere.
