There is no comparison between Ford’s full size vehicles (TRUCKS/VANS) and any other manufacturer on the planet. They truly are at the front of the class with no one else even close.
Now if they could only get their passenger car divisions and products to the same level, particularly in North America where they have lagged for a long time, no one could stop them. They are working on it and showing real progress in this area, I expect fully Ford to be around for a long long time, worst thing they could have done in my oppinion is get in bed with the feds, that likely would have undone all the progress they have made and momentum they were finally getting.
Expect Only 45,000 Of The 2009 Mustangs To Be Produced
I will definitely look at Ford when I buy a new car.
Good for them, I like this.
Mine is white. Shweeet!
The Ford inline 300, 6 cylinder was the best engine in a truck I have ever had!
I’ve purchased both Ford and GM stocks when they where in the $1-$2 range.. not that I believe in the bailout, but I expected it to happen.
my favorite color for any ‘Stang is Metallic Blue with a white top (hard or soft).................
That is a beaut!
I owned a 84 ‘Stang in the 80s and loved it...very, very good car.
American car makers are stupid. Apparently, Ford is the least stupid of the three. I guess that makes Ford Moe to GM’s Larry and Chrysler’s Curly.
I bought American forever, and kept dealing with crappy cars. When the American makers started to improve quality in the early 90s I thought they had turned the corner. Nope. Once people started to buy their crap, they reverted to making lousy cars again. My 2002 Pontiac Bonneville was the last straw. That darn car would break in the driveway. Never again. Never, ever, will I buy another Pontiac. I traded the Bonneville in on a 2005 Camry and the difference is amazing. The gas door actually opens. The Camry has a steering radius of a car, not that of a dump truck like the Bonneville.
My wife bought an 08 Escape. It’s a re-badged Mazda, and it’s a nice vehicle. A little underpowered in it’s 4 cylinder form, but other than that, an outstanding car. But I hear Ford is ending their relationship with Mazada?
I don’t want to see people out of work, it will hurt us all, but giving money to the whores at the big 3 will result in nothing more than delaying the inevitible. Let them die, an American maker will take their place. If their is a void, it will be filled. And the new maker, whoever it is, is bound to be better.
No issues with the 6.4. Nada, none.
Yeah. An H3 is a TrailBlazer with different body panels.
Every GM vehicle I have owned has left me walking at least once. The newer the model, the more lemony the car was.
I had my best experience with Chrysler vehicles, but no more. I'm going to become a Japanese and Korean customer.
Looking at the news today, Ford is parsing words. They don’t want ‘immediate help’ but they want the line of credit to stay open to them.
IMHO, they are probably playing this to see how the market reacts to the other two companies, maybe hoping there will be a market shift to them or seeing if the terms are something they don’t want to comply with.
IE, they aren’t turning down the bailout, they are just don’t want to be the first to get the check.
You're right. Because it's fenders are not 'rounded' and bland like the other 27 car models (nissan, impala, taurus, etc) that all look so boringly similar.
When the government screws the component supplier base by supporting GM and Chrysler bankruptcy, they’re all going to start demanding cash to ship parts. Ford could potentially get wiped out for not bellying up to the trough in the first place.
I don’t like the bailout mania, but I can see reaasons for the request.
It’s my wifes car, so 5 speed auto. Still VERY fast and avg 18.8 mpg so far (2400 miles. The white looks really clean. The 300+ HP sounds very nice. {:0)
I bought my first and last ford in 1986 F-250 biggest pile of pelosi i ever had I was sick of the of it in less than a year and a half had two Toyota’s pick ups in the last 22 years never gonna buy anything but as Toyota truck sorry
“I’m going to become a Japanese and Korean customer.”
I did, so far, no regrets.
The best vehicle I’ve ever owned was my first car, a 1998 Chevy Caviler Z24- traded it with about 250k miles, the dealer only thought it had 50k on it. Of course, I was 16 and pampered that car which is why she lasted so long.
My worst was a Dodge Ram 2500 (2002). Had oil pumps changed from mile 10k to 25k every couple of thousand miles. Major, major problems and the dealers refused to warranty it. Finally they said I needed a new engine (not covered under warranty), claiming the oil pump and sludge problem was my fault because I didn’t get oil changes (actually got them ever 1500 miles at the same dealer). Later, I learned that this was a common problem with these trucks because the compression was set to high. A former mechanic at the dealer said they knew full well it was a problem with the truck’s compression but they where instructed to say it is the owner’s fault so they wouldn’t have to eat labor costs to fix..
The GM dealer across the street traded the Ram on the H3 I have now at full value, fixed it, and had it back for sale used within a week. They said it only took about $250 in parts to fix and they saw that all the time...
GM’s a much more risky play that Ford IMHO, but at $1 a share sure can be a big upswing if they pull it out.
Ford has been profitable worldwide, and was down to losses only in N.A. This has mainly been do to horrifically boring products for far to long in this market. They have finally been address these issues with several newer models and with 25 Billion in reserves, I have been of the opinion FORD never needed the bailout, but since everyone else was asking decided they’d go ask to.. why not try.
There stock has been hammered for a long time now for no real reason other than fear, not facts. Ford has not been in any real serious risk of long term viability since they got rid of Ford as their CEO.. he was rapidly steering them down the wrong road, his departure ended that risk.
GM, I have had dealings with GM over the years, and while they make and sell a lot of cars, they have been hopelessly mismanaged for so long that I just don’t have faith a few billion will save them. How can you sell more cars than any other manufacturer on the planet and still not be able to handle a market downturn?
Don’t get me wrong I don’t wish to see a manufacturing giant disappear, and I assume one way or another GM will continue to exist, even if it is only a subsidiary of TATA or GREELY motors, but as a free standing entity, I just don’t see how a few Billion is going to save them, they haven’t addressed their core problems and don’t see putting a governmental bureaucrat in the middle of the mix aiding them in any way toward addressing them.
