BERKELEY (BCN) Anti-war activists from the group Code Pink will hold a march at a Marine recruiting station in Berkeley this morning to show solidarity with an Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at President Bush on Sunday.
Members of the group and others will march around the recruiting station holding shoes in the air to show support for Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi, who hurled two shoes at Bush during a news conference in Baghdad.
In many Arab countries, showing the sole of one's shoes, much less throwing shoes at another person, is considered a sign of extreme disrespect.
Organizers say the march is intended to show support for the Iraqi people who have been killed, tortured or maimed and U.S. soldiers who have died since the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq.
The march will take place at 8 a.m. at the recruiting station at 64 Shattuck Square in Berkeley.
Gawd I hate Democrats. To hell with bipartisanship.
What?

that’s a lot to hold... inhuman if you ask me...
I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet.
Then I said, “Hey, Stumpy, can I have those shoes? ‘Cause it sure looks like you won’t be wearing them any time soon.”
If Saddam was still in power there would be no press conference and if there was, anyone who tried to throw a shoe would be summarily executed on the spot.
So these Code Pink wankers are going to be showing their shoes to Marines?
I wonder if they have thought thru the message that this sends back to arab muslims: “we show Contempt and Disrespect for our American Marines.”
It is not just a “protest”. It is an overt display of contempt and disrespect. By Americans.
If this is truly their intention — along with all the implications that will fall out of doing this — then the Marines ought to be ordered to bayonet-charge this crowd to disburse them. Because this crowd will be putting Marine lives at risk. And the lives of other Americans as well.
Crikey, these people suck. ‘Strewth.

As a matter of fact, I do have one:
If "Peace Takes Brains," what does it take to ingest 6000 calories per day for thirty years while never exercising beyond lifting the food to your mouth?
So, if hundreds of people show up at the march and throw shoes at them, they won’t really mind, right?
Of course the next time they hold a press conference, I’d pay to have someone throw shoes at these nuts. Their attitude about shoe throwing would abruptly change.
Impress us, liberals. Spew that hate! Right down to the last minute of Bush’s presidency. Aren’t you beautiful?
It’d be fun to throw shoes at them as they march.....
