DES MOINES, Iowa - President-elect Barack Obama has selected former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack as agriculture secretary, according to Democratic sources familiar with the selection process.

Obama will announce the appointment of Vilsack on Wednesday, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the selection before the announcement.

Vilsack will be the fourth former opponent of Obama in the 2008 Democratic primaries to join his new administration. Others include Vice President-elect Joe Biden, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has been tapped for secretary of state, and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, selected to head the Commerce Department.

Vilsack positioned himself in the presidential campaign as a Washington outsider with heartland appeal, but he dropped out after poor showings in early primaries. He endorsed Clinton and campaigned actively for her in the long primary campaign against Obama. After Obama defeated Clinton, Vilsack endorsed him.

We have to bless Sarah Palin for helping Saxby Chambliss to win. I cannot imagine the harm to this country with a 60 vote majority by the demonrats.

So Obungler couldn't find one human being more qualified for this post than Tom f-ing Vilsack?!! The man who took the Iowa that I remember off life support? For crying out loud, it is bad enough that the man has no agriculture or business background at all, but without the help of the NEA, he was incapable of tying his shoes. Oh, lordy, this country is indeed done, done, done.

Well, hope and change, my ass... just as predicted. President-elect Hussein-O (or his handlers) has assembled the most incompetent group of second-rate donk retreads possible without actually bringing Jimmy Carter on board, and I suspect that even THAT is not far off.

If there is anyone from Iowa who knows less about agriculture than Bilgesack I don’t know who it would be, but I’m sure they’d be a demoncrat.
