Hear the silence? An arsonist tried to burn down Wasilla Bible Church, the congregation of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin late Friday evening. But not a word of concern – much less of outrage - has appeared thus far on the editorial pages of The New York Times, The Washington Post, or The Los Angeles Times concerning a despicable act, regardless of the motives of its perpetrator. All that is known at this point is that Alaska authorities view the fire as an act of arson, and that church officials decline to say if they have received any recent threats.
Now imagine that, instead of the arsonist’s target being Wasilla Bible Church, the match was lit against Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, the former congregation of President-elect Barack Obama. Does anybody doubt that the editorial pages of the nation’s top newspapers would be exploding with turgid, outraged demands for a full FBI investigation, along with reams of analysis based on the assumption that the motive of the arsonist was political and/or racial.
Arson for any reason is a serious felony. When it is committed for political reasons, it is especially heinous no matter the identity of the intended victims. And it should be noted that there were a number of innocent people working on various holiday projects in Palin’s church when the arsonist started the conflagration. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed, despite the blaze that did an estimated $1 million in property damage. The silence is deafening.

Tell me about it. I didn't even know about the church burning until 10 minutes ago when Greta interviewed Sarah about it on FNC. The author is obviously right -- if Obama's "church" had been the one set ablaze the story would dominate the news. ...perhaps as much as the Blago story.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear in my own comment. The elite media is thoroughly Hegelian in its outlook, and to it the Black Church is the "thesis" of history (the "oppressed" engine that drives history to its "inevitable conclusion" in a utopia of "social justice"). The White Church, on the other hand, is the "antithesis" (the reactionary "counterrevolutionaries" who "sit astride back of history shouting 'stop!'"). The "thesis" is always right; the "antithesis" is always wrong.
Everything becomes crystal clear once this is understood. Double standards in free speech/religion/expression? Of course! Only the "thesis" has rights, and the only purpose of these "rights" is to push history along. The "antithesis" has no rights at all (hence the Leftist motto "No free speech for fascists!").
What gets me is that so many of these elite liberals fail to recognize that the "leftism" they promote among the "oppressed" seems very similar to "right wing extremism" among the "oppressors." Afro-centrism? Africa invented civilization? "We are one people?" "Restored Socialist Mexico?" The ancient Celts were communists so Irish/Scottish Marxism is merely a return to the ways of the ancestors?
Let the Left give me such a "leftism" and I'll be a leftist as well! And let them demand the same amount of self-hatred and self-flagellation among their "oppressed" darlings and see how long they remain on the "left!"

As I’ve said on other threads, it’s not that the media is ignoring this church burning. The media was complicit in causing it. They are the ones who spread the hate.
Nor any concern that there were women and children inside the building when it was torched around the perimeter -

Point taken, but I think you're missing the point of the article, which is that liberals don't hate all churches or all chr*stians equally.
If the day you speak of comes, will Black chr*stians have to wear the cross?
