MOSCOW (AFP) — A group of Russian warships will from December 19-23 visit the Communist island of Cuba, a long-time adversary of the United States and Moscow's ally in the Cold War, the Russian navy said on Monday.

"This will be the first visit to Cuba by Russian warships since the Soviet era," the Russian naval headquarters said in a statement.

One Destroyer and two support ships. A show of strength that I have never witnessed. I hope they can make it through the N. Atlantic on the way home in winter.

A warning to the Cuban people that marxism will still be the law of the land after that murdering castros are gone?

I suspect that the Russian show of naval strength is no comparison to the numerous United States Carrier Task Groups we have on station right now. But if the liberal media thinks that a Russian destroyer is a show of strength who are we to argue with their delusion.

I suspect that they will test forthcoming president Barney Fife with something a bit more threatening and "terrifying".

They have quite a bit out. Their carrier was exercising in the Atlantic this week.

‘MOSCOW, December 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia’s Admiral Levchenko missile destroyer and a support ship will begin a visit to Lisbon on Friday, a Navy spokesman said on Monday.

The Udaloy-class destroyer is part of a task force from Russia’s Northern Fleet led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, which is currently on its way to the Mediterranean.

“The visit will last until December 22,” Capt. 1st Rank Igor Dygalo said.

Following the visit, the task force will pass through the Strait of Gibraltar, visit several ports in the Mediterranean, and participate in joint exercises with Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

Dygalo earlier said that Russia currently has three naval task groups on tours of duty in the world’s oceans.

Another naval task force from the Northern Fleet, led by the Pyotr Veliky nuclear-powered missile cruiser, is currently on a tour of duty in the Caribbean. The Admiral Chabanenko missile destroyer and two support ships from this task force will visit Cuba on December 19-23.

Meanwhile, a task force from Russia’s Pacific Fleet, comprising the Admiral Vinogradov, an Udaloy class missile destroyer, a tugboat, and two tankers, is in the South China Sea heading to the Indian Ocean to take part in the INDRA-2009 joint naval drills with the Indian navy.

Russia announced last year that its navy had resumed and would build up a constant presence in different regions of the world’s oceans.’

One day we will ask the question...."Who lost South America?"

The answer will be Jorge Booosh.

For years many of us here have been pointing South as the fire next time and lamenting the glaring fact that 43 has chosen to punt rather than engage,

OK, three Russian Naval Task Groups that will never project as much power as a single American Carrier Task Group.

The USA is being totally disrespected.
A devastated financial system and economy, an empty suit for next President, surrounded by scandal, putting in place individuals with no experience or qualification to run them.

That is clearly without dispute. Simply detailing what they currently have out on exercise. Possiby expect the Bear and Blackjacks to come out into the Indian Ocean via Iran this time. Back in 2003 they took the Afghanistan and Pakistan route into the Indian Ocean.
