Wolves in Idaho have killed 325 cattle, sheep and dogs so far in 2008, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game says.
"You can't just keep stuffing wolves on top of each other,"

I would use the SSS strategy. The government clearly is no working for you. For the first “S” I would choose .243 or .270 Win. Just my preferences though.
According to Defenders of Wildlife, in the 13 years from the Wolf Compensation Trust's inception to 2000, it has paid $136,627 to 129 ranchers for 529 depredation incidents (for at least 167 cattle, 338 sheep and some dozens of other animals including pigs and fowl). This amounts to an average of $235 dollars per animal lost to wolves. The Trust also provides guarding dogs, fences and other depredation prevention measures for livestock ranchers.
So where is the tax payers money???
The guy was definitely an idiot going out alone and unarmed after the previous incident but it shows that wolves will attack and kill people under certain conditions.
The Fish and Game spokespersons who try to calm people by saying it’s very rare that wolves and cougars attack humans really light my fire because that one person that is attacked and killed is very dead. When the numbers of those animals become too many for their habitat they live closer to man and lose their fear of us thereby becoming a threat.
Yep.
It is the same line of thinking used by one Timothy Treadwell about bears.
That line of thinking seemed to work riiiiight up until the moment when it quit working:

” - it strikes a proper balance when they know that going too far can get them shot.”
How about:
“ - it strikes a proper balance when they know that getting too close can get them shot.”
Man, after all, must be seen by large bodied predators as a sort of telescopic predator - he can bark anywhere he wants and the ‘bite’ can occur anywhere he can see.
;-)
At what it costs to buy a cow in the west, that “compensation” is far short of actual replacement costs.
A good cow, having already calved at least once, will run $800+/head. It has been about that much for 10+ years.
A good ewe will run at least $300+.
Their own stats indict them - they’re paying a pittance for the damages caused by wolves.
The bullcrap of a “market value of livestock verified by federal investigators” — is hilarious. If the morons employed by the federal government knew anything about markets, they wouldn’t be employed by the federal government - they’d be able to function in the productive private sector. As it is, “federal investigators” know nothing about “market value” of anything.
Check google for what happened to a student who didn’t realize the HollyWeird claptrap about “No wolf attack on man in America was merely enviro-whacko blabbering.
It was finally admitted that the chap was killed and eaten by wolves.
-(unfortunately the predominant pest around here is the raven--protected migratory bird)--
1080 is not a necessity, as long as AutoZone and Discount Auto are in business.
It is not the fault of the mechanic of those theiving wolves knocked off the lid on the anti-freeze.
Question: Since the wolf if the property of the state, is the state liable for the cost of replacing the anti-freeze?
Ownership of an animal usually includes responsibility for the acts of one’s animal. Does this apply to Agencies and AgencyPersons?
In Alaska, wolves have recently attacked dogs while their owners were walking them.
One day, when the opportunity presents itself, one (or more) will wind up hanging from my wall.
Insanity reigns supreme!
Good to hear from you.
The wolf populations are exploding. It will be much worse, soon.
Since no one else will say it I will. Go to google or what ever your favorite search engine is and look up wolf attacks in Europe. The attacks in the states were never recorded although they happened, Indians mentioned them frequently. Once the wolf population was thinned down and records were being kept, naturally wolf attacks on humans were either very low or non-existent, mainly due to low wolf population and their fear of men with firearms.
In Europe wolf attacks are well documented, happening often in the 18th and 19th centuries(and probably before that)and you can find mention of them by searching. Since the European wolves are the same species as American and Canadian wolves it follows that their American continent relatives will also attack humans if A:)they are hungry enough from being over populated and B:)if they have no fear of man due to the fact they are not hunted.
Both of these suppositions are borne out by the fact that Mountain lions attacks used to be very low in most states. In CA, since hunting lions was outlawed because the species was put on the endangered list(a lie BTW, they were never endangered) attacks have increased. The media does a great job of not reporting most of them after the failed attempt a few years back to re-open hunting of lions because of increased attacks.
The lions in CA have A:)increased their populations way beyond the range that can support them and B:)have lost all fear of man because they are no longer hunted.
Lions are very territorial and run their young off when they reach adult age, forcing the young ones to seek new range. Wolves don't do this so it will take longer for them to get to the point they will start killing and eating people but they will, sooner or later.
If you happen to be one of those people who actually believe wolves won't attack people you only need to think about dogs. Dogs are closely related to wolves, they are supposedly tame, but they kill people every year and for reasons usually not related to food.
Wolves killed and ate people in Europe for centuries and they killed and ate Indians according to their legends, which are most likely true, and they will kill humans again if given the chance.
LOL, that’s a great pic!
