WXYZ) Sources tell Action News that the White House and U.S. automakers have reached a deal that could prevent a collapse of the industry.
IN THE VIDEO PLAYER ON THE RIGHT, ACTION NEWS REPORTER TOM WAIT SAYS THAT A DEAL HAS BEEN REACHED BUT THAT AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL NOT COME FRIDAY NIGHT
Our source says the agreement with the Bush administration will mirror the bill that passed the House.
We do know the White House and officials from GM have been in talks for several hours. The negotiations may also involve the Federal Reserve.
President Bush is back in Washington after a trip to Texas and an announcement could come at any time.
Bush also released a statement today saying "The economy could not handle the collapse of the car industry."
Congress is now out of the game after talks in the Senate broke down last night.
“I will NEVER buy one of their cars, period! And now, Im going to encourage others not to buy them either!”
and six months after the bailout, they’ll demand they be even MORE green, which will raise the cost, making us want them even less and making the car companies even MORE unprofitable.
Sorry, but the point is nationalizing the auto industry is socialism. So, there is no discussion as to it’s merits.
Whatever the reason for nationalizing any industry it is still socialism. And the model of socialism being used in this mess is the “National Socialiist Model”. Which BTW, is taken from NAZI Germany from 1939’ish.
“Socialism always rides in on the Trojan horse of emergency” Herbert Hoover.
They create the emergency so they can frighten people so we will give up our freedom.
Bush is a low life socialist POS because of the damage he has done to this country with theses nationalzations.
Sorry if you lack the understading as to the damage he has done.
Our freedom is gone, and soon our way of life.

” it seems that all that is left up there are the teat sucking, welfare recipient, union boot licking, leftist base.”
and those dang snowbirds.
I believe the Soviets used to have a car company that operated under those principles.
Excellent ad. I love the motto on the bottom. Sickeningly true.
I don't understand the outrage...
You guys have been warned for years that if you keep voting for pro Nafta, pro WTO, pro New World Order candidates, eventually the chickens would come home to roost...
I don't work for GM directly but if they go down, my wife and I will both lose our jobs...And there are no other jobs to move to...They are gone...
You want to work on getting the jobs back from China, I'll be more inclined to lean toward your side of the issue...
Apparently you work for a supplier.
The world will not come to an end if the Little 3 file for an orderly Ch 11 bankruptcy with our tax money providing the DIP financing.
They can move on dot org and continue to pay you.
Or we can just give them enough money to get them through till next week.
No I don’t work for the Big 3. I live in Pennsylvania, which until recently was at least purple, now with all the influx from NY & NJ, we’re turning blue. Sad.
Oh, so the ‘enemy lines’ is being in a blue state? I hear ya there. I wish I could move to a strongly red state. And out of Mexifornia. You’re still in much better shape in PA than we are here. There’s no hope for the border states. But I hope the rest of the country can be saved.
