[RECOMMEND- SEE Full 2 minute video at site. Powell tells future}

In an interview with CNN- General Colin Powell said of Gov. Sarah Palin:

"Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small town values are good. Well, most of us don’t live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and there’s nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx."

So let me get this straight, according to CP, it would be better to raise kids in the Bronx than in Mayberry? The values of Gangs, Drugs, .... of the big city are better than getting up early to do chores, respect, honesty..... I have lived in both and small towns win by a mile. But that P@ssy CP wants to take it personally. What an ass.

Most people in the cities have abandoned the “WE” concept and replaced it with the “ME” concept: ME-ME-ME-ME, I-I-I-I-I, 24/7.

That has happened pretty recently, including here in the suburbs. I lived in the Bronx until I was 10, then we moved to Long Island. NONE of us got away with ANYTHING, in the city or the suburbs, nor could we make a move without "home" knowing about it because everyone looked out for everyone else. And guess what? Other adults were allowed to reprimand us if they caught us doing something wrong then they dragged our butts home and told on us!!

It's very very different now and not in a good way.

Remember, it was Colin Powell that knew the Valerie Palme 'leaker' was Dick Armitage and still let President Bush and Scooter Libby twist in the wind! Jerk!

I’ve lived everywhere, deep country, farm country, small town, medium sized cities, large cities, megacities... Sarah Palin is 100% correct. Small town values are definitely good and I think one can even argue that they are in many cases better than anywhere else. Powell’s politicizing her opinions and twisting her words just goes to prove how poor his values are.

Why is this punk-@$$ed old fool attacking Governor Palin now?

Fear.

The marxists of the left are terrified of her, the squishy weathervanes of the middle are terrified of her and the treasopublicans who loathe principled people and want to drive them from the party are terrified of her.

Governor Palin represents a truly conservative future and these roaring dinosaurs are lashing out from the tar pits because they see there is no place for them in that future as they sink into a morass of their own making.

I was flamed off FR for being a racist and a bigot.

Class of 98 paleocon here. You didn't get flame from me. I never cared for this phoney.

He's a great example of the 'content of character vs color of skin' relationship. Alot of Freepers were anxious for a person of color they could support, for whatever reason. Its a commendable reaction, I guess.

But Bowell provides us with a perfect example of why we conservatives, unlike our counterparts, need to remain focused on 'content of character'.

I didn’t find the interview disagreeable. Powell said Palin is a smart, distinguished woman who might have come on the national stage a little too soon. He also said “xyz” didn’t contribute the the Republican campaign this time, referring to her emphasis on small towns. I think the “xyz” was the overall McCain strategy, not just Palin. Powell’s assertions here are far from ridiculous.

He made the good point that Republicans must appeal more to minorities and those in large cities because that’s who the preponderance of voters are.

Regarding his role in the Bush administration, he said the team got a lot done, that there are going to be disagreements, and his major disappointment was that the NSC system didn’t function very well.

Piper in your picture:

Notice even Piper has her hand over her heart—which means at 7 years old, she is smarter than the President select.

Colleen Powell can move his fat ass back to the south Bronx. He voted for our Marxist president. I HAVE NO RESPECT for this puke ex-general. He can fall off the face of the earth. If ANY republican EVER chooses him to sit in a position of responsibility again, I will never support that republican, period. I have had it with Colleen Powell. Mr. POLITICAL general.

I remember powell saying that he could work for either a dem or a Republican president. I lost most of my respect for him right there.

I discovered in 1992 who Powell really was. It was after Buchannan’s convention speech, that predicted our current situation regarding illegal aliens. Michael Powell watched the speech with his dad (Colon) and after opined upon the “racist” tone. I knew then those thoughts came from Colon, and he was a closet clintonoid posturing as a Republican.

Powell was nothing more than a careerist in the Army. If I’m not mistaken, he was one of the ones that got Desert Storm stopped before Schwarzkopf had a chance to finish of the Republican Guard. Had Schwarzkopf been allowed finish the job, there probably would have been no need for this Iraq War.

P.S. I live near the Reagan Library and I think I heard the Gipper roll over in his grave upon hearing that someone he appointed stabbed a good conservative in the back.
