The movement to convince President-elect Barack Obama to name a reformer as secretary of agriculture (or a re-named secretary of food) just got some clout, with a New York Times columnist now pushing it.
It could be he will-he seems very much the pragmatist. At the same time, though, many raw milk consumers and producers alike have been wondering how the President-elect feels about raw milk, one of the more contentious food/agriculture issues around. And in this arena, Im afraid I have bad news.

knowing someone that buys raw milk, I know just what a big issue this has become. While I can see that much of the research shows that raw milk is safe and most likely offers more benefits than pasteurized milk, the main issue is handling. It would appear that smaller production that can be tightly controlled is the best solution to get raw milk. I would not trust larger operations to deliver raw milk for fear of contamination.
No, legitimate research shows that raw milk is inherently dangerous.

Do all of the above pathogens, that can be found in raw milk, get there from poor handling?

Even if you have your own farm there is no way to fully sterilize udders. Even if you could, you'd still be unaware of any pathogens transferred from the cow/goat through the milk like brucellosis or salmonella.
That said, I don't think the government should be telling anyone they can't consume raw milk. However, believing raw milk can be made safe or that research shows it to be more beneficial than pasteurized milk just isn't so.

Yeah, well, get back to me when you get some facts on the subject and can inform me. Otherwise, I’ll conclude you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about which is why you won’t (or can’t) defend what you’ve posted here. Feelings are easy. Facts are hard.
Having followed the current hearings on the issue in the State of California, I won’t need to get back to you. You sir, as I wrote, are not informed on the subject as you think you are. But being you are what you are, I will concede you won this internet argument and I bow down to you as the ruler of the intertubes!

Did the hearings in Ca. prove that raw milk is pathogen free? Did those same hearings also prove that raw milk is more beneficial (ROFL!) than pasteurized milk? I'm waiting for you to school me but all you want to do is run away.

you forgot to add that you are one of the pathogens in raw milk. :)
If this guy had raw milk in his diet, he would not have had this happen to him.
