Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) is the anonymous "Senate Candidate #5" whose emissaries Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich reportedly claimed offered up to a million dollars to name him to the U.S. Senate, federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News.
According to the FBI affidavit in the case, Blagojevich "stated he might be able to cut a deal with Senate Candidate 5 that provided ROD BLAGOJEVICH" with something "tangible up front."
Jackson Jr. said this morning he was contacted yesterday by federal prosecutors in Chicago who he said "asked me to come in and share with them my insights and thoughts about the selection process."
Jackson Jr. said "I don't know" when asked if he was Candidate #5, but said he was told "I am not a target of this investigation."

Sad isn’t it?
...his hair can’t be trusted...
That’s what I’ve been thinking, too. Somehow, overnight, we have descended to an African thugocracy.
How much longer until your namesake is needed?
Instead of being a new Senator looks as if JJ Jr. might soon be someone's new prison wife.
OBAMA - JACKSON - BLAGO
US Senator Barack Obama(L) D-IL stands with Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. (C) and Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (R) at the PUSH for Excellence 17th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Award Breakfast 15 January, 2007 at the Grand Ballroom in McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Obama spoke to the group on the birth date of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This whole deal makes me sick. Gov’t is corrupt at all levels. The founding fathers knew this would be the case; power corrupts. Yet, US citizens are determined to vote for a bigger, more centralized Gov’t and give them more and more money and power. The only politician worth voting for is one that promises you nothing except to get Gov’t out of your life...and wallet.
Golden opportunity for Mr Obama to root out all of this. A great number of US citizens would like to see it done.
I took this photo on November 12, 2004, at the gala opening for "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years" at The Field Museum.
Barack Obama had just been elected days before, and everyone was giddy to see the new Junior Senator from Illinois in the same room as the Senior Senator from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy.
And Michelle looked simply fabulous.
After Senator Kennedy's surgery this past week, and with Senator Obama's nomination now secure, I thought it appropriate to dust off these digital pics and share.

From the campaign trail and this nice photo from the State of the Union...
10 months ago: US president-elect Barack Obama, seen here at President George W. Bush's final State of the Union address shakes hands with Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr (R),D-IL, January 28, 2008 at the Capitol in Washington, DC. Jesse Jackson Jr. has emerged as a front-runner for president-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat. Jackson Jr, who has emerged as a front-runner for president-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat, said Thursday he would be "honored" and "humbled" if asked to fill the position once Obama entered the White House.
How? I wish it were so, but how is this going to slow him down at all?
What the birth certificate thing needs is actual research. As a scandal, it’s just not ready for primetime. When the only evidence is absence of evidence plus a pretty damn unlikely possibility, good research is key. What do we have now? Some random Kenyan woman? The fact that Obama doesn’t care much about what part of the right side of the blogosphere and some talk show hosts write and say? So yea, let’s put the bc thing on the back burner, do the research to see if it pans out (I think it won’t, but there’s no harm in digging).
Does anybody else think this sounds kind of like when Gov. Spitzer was “Clientt #9?”

Things get worse and worse. Reform is still posssible, but the people seem to wallow in corruption.
