I’m with penelope. One of my first thoughts when I saw all this was “oh. so THAT’S how Obama got his Illinois senate seat.”

Someone’s gonna sing. Whether it’ll go anywhere is another story, but I bet all kinds of stuff will come out of this.

Keep the faith!

Absolutely I will!

These arrests are very good news for the rule of law once again being taken seriously. Just because today's news does not directly implicate Obama, there could be much more to come out later.

I will not give up hope!

Even so, we’ll be rid of the vermin at the national level. So it’s all good.

Then Senate candidate 1 was probably Jan Schakowsky.

What is that for Illinois?

It's government is corrupt. It's no secret. Just like most government officials at all levels nowadays.

They've been compromised and corrupted.

The U.S. now has upwards of 10 million government employees at all levels, and most states can't even perform simple tasks such as balance a simple check book.

This thing is so big, and Blago’s arrogance is so huge, I doubt the people of Illinois will let the Dems much rope on this one. Anyone trying to buck up Blago is going to look like a fool...

Oops, I see that it was Tammy Duckworth. I guess Schakowsky never made it into the big league candidacy; her name was floated initially.

Yep...O can’t pardon someone before they are convicted in a court of law and if he removes Fitz at this point he will look like he is trying to influence the investigation and obstruct justice. It’s a checkmate at this point. The O is powerless....lol. Lots of stuff will come out at trial that will not look so good for democrats or Obama.

Reid: ‘Very Disappointed’ by Blagojevich Arrest

By Paul Kane
Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) spoke to the Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich (D) just “a few days ago” about the appointment to succeed Barack Obama, delivering a message the electability was the key concern for who got the nod.

Reid said today he was “very disappointed” by the arrest, saying he had no inkling from his conversation of the allegations lodged today.

Reid said he told Blagojecvich one thing: “I would hope that he would appoint someone that could get elected in 2010.”

Reid said he had no idea what would happen to the appointment process now.

“The state of Illinois is on kind of a bad run,” Reid added, referring to former governor George Ryan’s imprisonment on corruption charges.

Heh, I think it was!

Guess Blago never heard of a Hoosier named Gary Hart.

One of my first thoughts when I saw all this was “oh. so THAT’S how Obama got his Illinois senate seat.”

He did that by getting his Chicago crime machine cronies to unseal Ryan's sealed divorce records, which proved so embarrassing to him that he dropped out, leaving Alan Keyes as his sole opponent.

Another fine example of an honest politician winning on his own merits. /s

Almost like they don't want anyone to know where the money goes.

Exactly. And the developers worked under the umbrella of the Mayor, not the governor. The developers had to pay off the Mayor’s people in order to get zoning rulings etc. Daley is the Godfather figure for Obama, not Blago.

Now, Daley might be reachable via Blago but I doubt it. He’s waaaaaaaaaay too smart. Blago is dumber than dumb. Even his own father-in-law, ward boss Dick Mell, could see that and distanced himself early on.

Blago was the easy one to pick off. Daley’s a tougher nut to crack, mainly because his bag men are so willing to fall on their swords for him but also because the Daley machine is so well oiled that his underlings know what to do without him giving direct orders. It’s all done wink-wink, nod-nod, so Daley retains deniability. Blago was a blabbermouth, as the tapes show, a really awesomely stupid blabbermouth. Daley’s people are tightlipped.

And Obama’s much more like Daley’s people than Blago.
