The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.
This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.
The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)
What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil? Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the Constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others. But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?
Conservatives are supposed to respect the organic nature of human societies. Ours has been riven by profound disagreements that have been deepening over many years. We are divided not only about political facts and social values, but also about what the Constitution itself means. The crusaders on this issue choose to ignore these problems and are proposing to deny the will of 64 million voters by appealing to 5 Supreme Court Justices (since no one is delusional enough to think that the 4 liberal justices are going to take the presidency away from Obama). What kind of conservatism is this?
It is not conservatism; it is sore loserism and quite radical in its intent. Respect for election results is one of the most durable bulwarks of our unity as a nation. Conservatives need to accept the fact that we lost the election, and get over it; and get on with the important business of reviving our country's economy and defending its citizens, and -- by the way -- its Constitution.
Having run with that pack, who knows what they know?
I love that button. I use it all of the time. What we need, Mr. Horowitz is a leader and ethics and all I see is it’s getting worse.
It would be nice if one of them would be fair and honest with us like telling us the truth.
Forget the MSM. The fact that no person of consequence on the right has picked up the ball on this is more a reflection of the details than anything else.
Full disclosure: I am a skeptic on his disqualification.
Nothing I have seen convinces me that he is NOT a citizen.
However, I would also like to see him produce proof of citizenship, and would also like to see whatever details of his college attendances that may be embargoed.

Look, with all due respect, that’s just nonsense. To say that Limbaugh is cowed on this issue by whatever connection he may have to the MSM is simply not supported in any way, shape or form.
McCain showed his birth certificate to reporters. He also showed them his medical records to them. 0bama to my knowledge has done neither. It’s his fault some people question his eligibility. He should have ended this long ago if he could. Instead he just wanted to not show it and pay his lawyers to fight it. I still don’t think the court will rule against 0bama but I don’t have a problem with this going forward.
I don’t know what that means, but it sounds like the petitioner has been deemed to have not provided enough of a case.
But then why should he have to? Obama (and ALL candidates) should have been screened at a very early stage, in the filing of certain requisite paperwork.
It sounds like one can run for the Presidency with less proof of who you are than obtaining a driver’s license.

After reading this; I have got to wonder where this guy is coming from. We need leaders and eithics. Obama is not a leader. He is a front and probably an illegal one at that.
Are you saying every child of a US citizen mother is automatically a US citizen at birth?

The United States as a constitutionally limited republic and not a direct democracy. The constitution clearly spells out the vetting requirements of a candidate; as well as mob rule.
Disclaimer: I don’t think he was born abroad - my evidence, his passport file was browsed by several people and none of them noticed a place of birth outside the United States.
However, if he was in fact born abroad, and not eligible, I don’t care if he conned 64 million morons into voting for him, he is not eligible and he is not President.

You know I am beginning to wonder if a lot of them kinda know he isn’t qualified. I doubt they have any positive proof, but like a lot of us, the implications of Obama refusing to provide a $10 piece of paper is somewhat obvious. This is a concerted campaign by several different ‘conservative’ persona’s and given the sloppy arguments from otherwise intelligent people, I think something is up. I think a lot of ‘conservatives’ have decided that domestic peace is worth more than upholding a portion of the constitution.
I can understand their point and even sympathize with it, because if Obama is in fact disqualified due to a Kenyan birth there will be a body count, and possibly much worse.
My opinion is that it is a small price to pay to re-establish the rule of law and not men. If Americans toss this section of the constitution as not worth enforcing due to the threat of the mob, what else will be jettisoned the next time?
