When officers from the Lorain County Sheriffs Office in Ohio arrived last Monday at the Manna Storehouse food cooperative in LaGrange with weapons drawn and trained on Katie Stowers and her children, along with her in-laws, there was one member of the family missing.
Katies husband, Chad, is a U.S. Navy Seabee, helping in construction projects in the midst of combat in Iraq. Hes been there, separated from his family, for the last five months, supposedly protecting our rights from abusethe sort of abuse that appears to be taking place on an ever-more-frequent basis at farms and food outlets around the country.
I should point out that Katie didnt broadcast the information about her husband to meI inquired about it after she had to interrupt our telephone conversation to take a call from Chad in Iraq. Presumably, she was updating him about the raid he missed, in which sheriffs deputies, together with food inspectors from the Lorain County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Agriculture, herded the family into a home living room, and kept them under the guard of armed officers for about seven hours, while they executed a search warrant, taking food, cell phones, three computers, and business records.

This is the kind of action that could eventually cause CWII...
So the going mantra is to submit or be stomped eh?
Heavy handed raids are becoming the norm for any infraction EXCEPT being an illegal immigrant or public obscenity in cities like San Fran.
the FDA has been doing this for years......try starting a new food biz.....almost impossible.
I do not understand why this is. The corporate food lobbyist having tight relationships?
From later in the article:
The reason for the heavy-handed treatment? Thats not certain, since Lorain County officials wont comment, except to say they are conducting an investigation. Katie Stowers says the only reason shes aware of is a possible disagreement over whether the cooperative should be licensed as a retail establishment. A year ago, county health department officials arrived wanting to do an inspection, which the Stowers refused to allow, pending receipt of a written explanation. We sent them a letter, asking why. We never received a response...until Monday.
Katie Stowers says the officials showed up with a warrant, but that they didnt identify themselves or say why they were there. We dont know who it was.
...Heavy handed is right, Feds, States, and Local para-military law enforcment units are using the terrorist act tactics on anything, even misdemeanors. Shoot first, and then question the dead suspect...
When you ask the cops to get a warrant they frequently do that.
Sounds to me like sales taxes are why she is being targeted.
From their website.
We began ordering on a weekly basis, plus splitting cases for our customers and selling the left over items as retail.
If they were selling items at retail to non-members with out a business license and not collecting sales tax they were violating the law.
In Ohio the government does not take failure to pay sales tax lightly.
After they were noticed by the sales tax people I am sure that they brought them to the attention of the health department.
When you ask the cops to get a warrant they frequently do that.
Where did the story say anything about asking the cops to get a warrant?
Health inspectors showed up and they asked them for a written explaination about why they were there.
No cops, no warrant.
Alright, this is my THEORY, your mileage may differ...
Everyone’s two favorite reasons. Money, and Power.
What any of us eats SHOULD be no one’s business, but our own. But if too many people begin to realize that the junk that the government allows to be labeled as food nowadays, is part of the reason our children are becoming afflicted with adult onset diseases, and beset with food allergies, then the government is threatened. So, the government must stop anyone from becoming living proof, that not only is there a better way, but more importantly, that they have in fact, sold people a nutritional bill of goods : \
Also, economically speaking, it would undoubtably be very difficult to rework the current food industrial complex, in order to provide real, safe food to the vast populations within the urban areas. After all, that is the reason milk began to be pasteurized to begin with, to provide milk in large, “safe” quantities to the growing cities. And again, the government does not want to have an obvious difference between what they recommend/provide, and what other individuals find to be preferable.
IMHO, it is a very complex house of cards, involving money, power, the government, the food industry, and the medical profession, just to name a few. And unfortunately for you and I, the government is now in the business of protecting the interests of the above players, instead of allowing us to be free to make our own choices about the food we eat.

Wonder if they are looking for certain types of seeds. There are certain types of seeds that are getting very hard to find. Heirloom seeds....if you take the plant and dry the seed then you can put it in the soil again. It will produce another plant. I think the name of the company (Monsanto) ...not sure of spelling... that is taking over the seed production which are almost all genetically altered. I have a feeling there is alot more going on with this company.
The smokers tried to warn everybody about the public health nazis and now they are coming for all of us.
What time is it now, Claire Wolfe?
