With all due respect to military appointees, Obama is doing exactly what President Bush should have done in 2000.
Bush, who tried to encourage a "new tone in Washington", in reality screwed his Administration as countless holdover Clinton loyalists ran to the anti-Bush media with trumped up bogus stories.
Frustrating to the max.

I agree. They serve at the will of the President. He screwed the pooch on that one.

Frustrating to the max. Frustrating is not the proper term.
Try inept, naive, or just did not have a clue, or trying to be everyone's buddy.

This is really not that big of news. It happens whenever different party admins turnover. The number may be significant, but, the action itself is not.
To: Edit35
And the MSM will say nothing about it .. let Bush fire seven, just seven atty’s and look what happened ....

The problems with the CIA, Justice Dept, and the State Department are career bureaucrats that are impossible to fire, not the appointees who come and go with each administration.

Most of those being “fired” will be Clintonistas that President Bush never fired when he should have.
I find this encouraging news, if it actually comes to pass.

Life is uncertain.
Bill had the foresight to convert a number of “appointee” positions to “Civil Service” before departing the White House in 2001.
And now the old regime is back.
Happy days are here again.

Does this mean the Clintoon guys will be gone?No they will be promoted as a reward for their contribution's to the Democrap party over the last 8 years. Biggest blunder that GW did was to keep Klintoons appointee's.

Republicians are incompetenet at politics. Liberals on the other hand live and breath politics. They know how to play the game while Republicians sit on the side line. Just how it is. Heck Bush did not even get all his appointment made in the 1st year. I’m not sure he ever did. Just did not matter the him.

I think you’re right. The problem is with the tier of employees serving just below the political appointees. The “careerists” are the ones who know where the bodies are buried & how to undermine the policymakers (if they so choose). Think Valerie Plame.
