Charlie Brown concedes to McClintock

Ex-Sen. Tom McClintock had already declared victory as northern California's newest congressman, but Democratic opponent Charlie Brown made it official today with a phone call to the Thousand Oaks Republican.

Brown shared the news in an e-mail to supporters. "So a short time ago, I called Senator Tom McClintock to congratulate him on a hard fought victory, and to wish him well in Congress," he wrote.

To his supporters, Brown said, "I can only offer my deepest gratitude -- for your generosity of time and resources, and your unwavering energy and encouragement. Together, we have transformed the 4th District, and lifted this campaign higher and farther than anyone thought possible."

The fact that the Dem was so close to winning the district is worrisome. With a 30% Bush disapproval rating, no Dem would be competitive in this district.

America the first conservative who can toe to toe with any politician in Congress. Definitely will be in the cross-hairs of all Liberals. Tom will make his name known quickly. If you don't know Tom yet he will be your favorite Republican. California's most hated conservative. He should be our governor. I voted for Tom and too many RINOs wanted the HYPE. Screw Arnold.

Thank God.

Tom McC is probably the most brilliant politician in California.

To HEAR him, you would think he should be POTUS.

Sadly, when you SEE him, he looks like a diffident balloon watcher.

Brown was as competitive as he was because a lot of RINOs preferred him to McClintock, especially Ah-nold. They wanted Doug Ose to get the nomination. Barring redistricting, this should be the only close race he runs. This district was not McClintock’s residence, which was another problem for him, too (of course, Ose carpetbagged it, too, but not far away, McClintock is from Southern CA).

McClintock will need to make roots there. Ride on floats on parade days, etc.

Doolittle was a big time porker as well, and McClintock is against pork barrel, so local RINOs will always be gunning for his head.

Congressman Tom McClintock

Wow, I’m so glad to hear that, it gives me hope for our country. McClintock will be one of the finest members of Congress, ever. The GOP leadership had better do everything they can to help this patriot grow as a national leader. He is the future of our Republican party and of America.

FReepers, you do not know how much this means. Tom McClintock is among the best conservatives in America, next to Sarah Palin, of course.

One race where RINO malcontents didn’t cost us. They took down Bill Sali, Tim Walberg, Andy Harris, and to some extent Marilyn Musgrave (Jim Johnson, the Republican who held the seat from 1973-1981, endorsed her Dem opponent Markey).

What a long strange trip for Tom McClintock. Didn’t he run against Arnold for the recalled Davis seat?

With your ringing endorsements and less than 5 minutes in voting research, your Tom McClintock has made my list of Congresspeople to watch-then-donate.

Johnson must’ve lost his mind, a has-been 78-year old senile RINO. His ACU record was a subpar 58% overall, 5 years of which he scored below that (his first year, 1973 and next-to-last-year in 1979, he scored in the low 40s). He contrasted strongly with the great Bill Armstrong, who probably was the best member of the CO delegation for his 18 years (1973-91), who usually scored in the 90s.
