Sen. Bill Clinton has an interesting ring to it, doesnt it?
While no one is certain if this is a creation of the press or an actuality, certainly there are many models for post-presidential life and a return to public office is one of them.
Whether Bill Clinton is being seriously considered, or is seriously considering, a return to office via his wife Hillary's vacated New York U.S. Senate seat is certainly worth exploring.
"John Quincy Adams is the most prominent instance of a return to political office" said Joel Goldstein, an expert on the presidency. "But William Howard Taft was appointed Chief Justice of the United States, George Washington was named Commander in Chief of the army by President Adams, and despite his misgivings, Gerald R. Ford authorized close associates to discuss the possibility of (him) running for vice president on Ronald Reagan's ticket in 1980 -- and seemed close to accepting it."

And John Quincy Adams served in the House after he had been President. He even died in the House cloakroom.
FWIW, johnTyler served in the Cofederate Congress.
Don’t they have that really dumb one in congress from Rhode Island? Who else do they have? The green one?
What a demotion it would be, but....
Slick: "Heck, it might be fun foolin' around with some young new interns, though. Hell, I'm down. Count me in!"
Edward E. (Ted) Friedman. Niceto know there will be a Ted in the Senate when Kennedy is gone.
Kennedys will try to follow Teddy with some one of his kin.
Probably his nephew Joe, the former Congressman.
Would William Kennedy Smith be too scummy for the Dhimmicraps to appoint?
Or would Caroline suddenly reveal that she’s been a resident of their ‘compound’ of late?
bttt
Not likely. Right now, we don’t have a Lt. Governor, and we’re not even sure who’s going to be the Senate Majority Leader, which is also the acting Lt. Governor.
Then again, going without a governor for a while probably isn’t the worst thing that can happen to us. Might even be a refreshing change.
Nah. He never pays for what he can get for free.
he will take a substantial monetary hit, though, if he is a senator.
Here's a chance to really give 'em a taste of Europe ~ TWO Parliaments at once ~ with the House fighting the Senate for control of the hearts and minds of the populace.
Without a Governor you could have it ~ the kind of treachery and political comedy possible in such an arrangement would keep Obama off TV news.
Yes, it is of course common and probably natural for offspring to aspire to and have a leg up on their parents’ line of work. The result for our governance, however, is just short of appalling.
