All Hail the Free Republic!

All Hail the Free Republic!

There are, occasionally, developments that have the capacity to fundamentally change the landscape of our political culture. Historically these fundamental changes have happened once or perhaps twice in an average persons lifetime. In these times of weblogs and twenty-four hour news channels, we are seeing these fundamental changes happen all the more frequently and with all the more suddenness and impact upon our lives. No matter what the nature or scope of an event, or where it is in the world, and despite my subscriptions to God-knows-how-many news sources, I probably choose to get about 75% of my breaking news from one source, http://www.freerepublic.com/. It isn't that the freepers have such an ivy-league staff. In fact, it's not likely that any of the bright minds I read comment by on that blog could be hired in the mailroom of the New York Times, much less writing commentary and columns for them... I've always wondered about who has to change the litter box. Nasty job.

Especially after they over eat on troll meat. But that's what Sidebar Moderators are for...

Oooh, another insightful blog and another blog pimp!!!

I like it, especially the quirky comment. FR is quirky, it's part of its charm.

My favorite is at the end:

Thanks, FR. Thanks for the openness. Thanks for the quirkiness. Thanks for being Bob from Oklahoma and not Katie Couric. Thanks for being real.

I agree.

A ‘cautious’ welcome to you.

I don’t trust newbies.

Welcome to Free Republic, but remember....we’re watching you.

Lol, our “staff” does a great job.

Judging by the errors, omissions and downright misrepresentation in articles in my town’s newspaper, I believe the majority of FReepers would be better columnists and more accurate in grammar and spelling.

It’s not like Jim’s paying you.

Er... Right?

LOL, no money. We were offered free admission to that last D.C. ball, no mods were able to attend.

We have to follow the same posting rules as all Freepers. Jim lets us know if we overstep in modding or if we are freeping.

Bottom line, mods have to abide by the same rules that all Freepers do. Jim is fair and he is tough on the mods when we do something he doesn't like.

“FR has been named by the dems who will shut it down with “The Fairness Doctrine.”

Link, please. “

. . . Net Neutrality will be the vehicle. The unFairness (Censorship) Doctrine will be part of the underlying argument. Don’t ask how, I don’t understand Liberal Logic, makes my brain bleed.

You see, the greatness of FR lies not in its staff, or in the resumes of its posters, but rather in the honest truth and heartfelt concern for our nation's future that emanates from so many articulate, well-thought, and insightful posters. To be sure, there is an element of crackpottery on the site

Okay, so I like to have some fun .... Okay, so no else understands my 'fun' .....
