"Time for Leagues to Do Something About Players With Guns" (Abolish 2nd amendment)
Wash Post ^ | 12/1/2008 | John Feinstein

Posted on 12/01/2008 4:47:31 PM PST by GreaterSwiss

Now, let's not start screaming about the Second Amendment. To begin with, the amendment should be abolished -- a sensible interpretation of the amendment is that it was written to allow the people to raise a militia for protection and to hunt for food. Clearly no one needs to raise a militia these days, and those who hunt for a living can be licensed to do so.

It would be nice if President-elect Obama had the time to focus his energies on repeal of the Second Amendment, but he first has to deal with a broken economy and the incredibly wrong-headed war started by his predecessor. What's more, the issue of gun rights causes almost as much screaming from the right as abortion rights, the irony being that those yelling the loudest about the right to life are usually those yelling almost as loud about their right to carry weapons that kill.

Well, you gotta give credit where credit is due. Bryant Gumbel did excel in his own area, for instance he raised being a jackass to such levels that he actually made Geraldo Rivera look classy! If I had to choose between Gumbel and Obama to spend an hour with I would probably drink some of Jim Jones’ special beverage.

John Feinstein is a "sports writer", meaning that he's probably got an even lower IQ than your normal low IQ journalist.

He was one of the lynch mob after the Duke lacrosse players. Apparently, he skipped government class in high school to spend time sniffing used jocks in the boys locker room...

List of professional sports people convicted of crimes

It's not about the guns. It's about the stupidity of some of these athletes. Most of these folks aren't the brightest bulbs in the box, and probably shouldn't be allowed to own a slingshot. Half of them would probably not be able to get a gun if they answered the questions truthfully on the firearms transaction form. The sports leagues treat these guys with kid gloves, and they often give them a second and third chance to redeem themselves when they get caught doing something wrong, whereas you and I would probably go to jail.

“Now, let’s not start screaming about the Second Amendment. To begin with, the amendment should be abolished...”

You want to abolish it, then abolish it, via the constitutionally mandated procedure. Otherwise, STFU; no one gives a rat’s *ss what you think.

Feinstein, who is overweight because he eats too much, beats the crap out of his wife every night, sexually molest his kids and the kids of his friends, would have fought with the British against those radical people fighting for self reliance and liberty.

Nah, he'd have hidden under the bed till somebody told him it was safe to come out.

“It is patently absurd to say that wanting legal protections for an unborn innocent is somehow equivalent with owning and (if necessary) using a firearm to protect oneself against harm to life and limb.”

Well, if you think about it, both of those motives are about protecting innocents.

I agree with you - I actually made that post before I had finished what I meant to say. The corrected post is a bit further down the thread.

Obviously, John Feinstein is a moron.

He should be abolished.

Yea, you are correct.

I just wanted to be like Feinstein by misrepresenting, slander, and showing my own prejudices with people plus facts.

It must be nice to be ignorant because there is no such thing as “ignorance of the law” and “ignorance is no excuse” when it comes to columnist/authors.

‘It would be nice if President-elect Obama had the time to focus his energies on repeal of the Second Amendment’

Good point. I can’t think of a quicker way of the GOP regaining control of the House and Senate.

So what do police need guns for?

Beating up barmaids?

Or torturing people handcuffed to wheelchairs?
