Top Cop: Wal-Mart May Be To Blame For Worker Death Nassau Detective: Investigation Focusing On Individuals In Crowd And Badly Thought Out Security Protocols ME Confirms: 34-Year-Old Man Died Of Asphyxiation Reporting Lou Young MINEOLA (CBS) ― A top Nassau County police official called it a recipe for disaster.
Wal-Mart advertised the sale, announced supplies were limited and then -- he says -- did little to control the surge of people as they funneled through a single door.
Cops also said. everyone who got into the Valley Stream Wal-Mart when it opened on Friday morning stepped over, around or on Jdimytai Damour.
The medical examiner lists the cause of death to the temp employee as asphyxiation as the result of trampling. In other words, the crowd killed him. But is the crowd primarily responsible? Or does the store bear the brunt of the responsibility?
Nassau County Det. Lt. Michael Fleming said it looks like Wal-Mart made a fatal error here.
"It is clear at this juncture with the investigation still going that in my assessment and our assessment there were not adequate protocols in place," Fleming said.

Translation: The first set of people obviously are short on cash since they are at this ridiculous sale in the first place. The second set has big bucks that the leftists like to suck dry, so we don't care whose guilty as long as someone coughs up some dough.
Regardless of employee training, the ‘bargain entitlement’ mentality of the crowd killed the man. Given every ounce of training save for a riot shotgun, it is likely this man would have been trampled. Mob mentality, mob voting, mob ideology are the mindset of this group of sub humans.
This is BS.
I apologize for the inferred slur on police here, but does anyone think that since this is in NY, this is laying the groundwork for more cops to be assigned details to stand outside WalMart and other stores to the tune of $80 per hour?
What happened down there was inhuman and criminal, and it had nothing to do with an undertrained security guard and a mob of unruly, chanting people who stomped a FELLOW HUMAN BEING TO DEATH IN ORDER TO BUY AN XBOX FOR A CHEAPER PRICE.
This just BURNS MY ASS.
“there were not adequate protocols in place”
Conertina wire? Electric cattle prods? Machine gun nests?
I would like him to elaborate on what exactly would constitute adequate protocols for mob control.
this was the only WalMart in America where a sale was advertised but only limited quantities were on hand?
Walmart's fatal error was not realizing that humanity and civility are grossly lacking in America today. I don't think they can be prosecuted for expecting people to act like human beings and not animals.
Walmart was clearly negligent and should pay and take measures to never let it happen again. From what I have heard this has happened before at Walmart and they should have known better. What idiots!
However, those identified in the crowd by the camera who pushed the guy down, and those who clearly stepped on him, should be arrested and also held responsible. Stupidity on the part of walmart, brutality on the part of the crowd.
People are lunatics. That’s what killed this poor fellow.
I read earlier the deceased family has hired a lawyer and is going after Wall Mart..........TA DA!
I left out a key sequence of words there. I should proofread when I am pissed.
Of course it is the fault of Wal-Mart - they have a big sale, huge crowd shows up, and THEY OPEN ONE DOOR!!
What a bunch of stupid people work in management at that place. Crowd control is not rocket science.
When Nordstrom holds its big after Thanksgiving Day sale, there are two clerks at every entrance opening the doors - ALL THE DOORS.
I wonder if this man ever considered a little police presence for crowd control at the event?
In your search for an answer perhaps you'd google "Hillsborough disaster" for starters. It's kinda the gold standard for what to do...and what not to do...when anticipating "spirited" crowds.
You just described why Obama won the election. Republicans are trying to read too much into the loss.
But, but...people a basically good you know. /s
