Well, I had written to Senator Martinez ("R"-Florida) about the citizenship issue before the election. Today I got this mind-boggling response:
========================
Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.
Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.
Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.
The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.
Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.
After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.
I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

OK, so the fact that he won the election makes him qualified. Amazing
In a message dated 12/1/2008 3:36:55 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Mel_Martinez@martinez.senate.gov writes:
“The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama’s citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.”
Please show me where the Court noted that voters, not courts, should decided whether a particular presidential candidate qualified to hold office. My understanding is that the Court did denied Mr. Berg's case, ruling that he did not have standing. Berg now has his case before the Supreme Court and Senator Obama is to respond to Justice Souter’s order by today, December 1st.
“Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election.”
Please tell me how voters get to vet candidates? Especially when the media does not question any of the candidates except the Republican candidates. Did the media or the DNC vet Senator Obama? If they did, they certainly covered up and would not ask Senator Obama anything about his past. Senator McCain's birth certificate was all over the news. Where is Senator Obama’s? Under seal in Hawaii. Senator McCain's college records were all over the news. Where are Senator Obama’s? Still sealed and un-available. Senator McCain's medical records were all over the news. Where are Senator Obama’s? Still not released to the public. The list goes on and on.
“President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama’s birthplace were raised.”
Yes, and those questions still remain unanswered. His birth certificate is still under seal in Hawaii. Why? If he was actually born in Hawaii, why does he not release his birth certificate? The Certificate of Live Birth that was released is not his original long form birth certificate. In fact, his COLB has been deemed a fraud. But lets just say the COLB he released is his actual birth certificate, then what is the one under seal? Does he have two birth certificates? Why has Senator Obama spent money and time with attorneys to keep his birth certificate under seal in Hawaii?
“The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.”
No, the voters voted for Senator Obama but they do not KNOW if he meets the qualifications to hold the office of President. That responsibility rested with the DNC, and every Sec. of State in order for Senator Obama to have ballot access. It was not done since no one has seen Senator Obama’s original birth certificate. Senator Obama even had to sign a statement that he met the constitutional requirements in order to have ballot access. I trust the Justices of the Supreme Court will decide this coming Friday on Attorney Donofrio’s case, and will make sure that our Constitution is upheld. Obama must show that he is a “natural born” citizen and provide the documents necessary to verify that he meets the constitutional requirements to hold the office of President.
PS: Senator Obama is not President-Elect until after the Electoral College cast their votes.
That makes at least four. Definitely a form letter. RNC? McConnell?
Martinez
Isaakson
Alexander
Chambliss
XLNT. I sometimes believe they think ALL of their constitutents are as stupid as their boss.
This letter, in a nutshell, is why I will not vote for Martinez in 2010. I will simply skip that part of the ballot.
That is probably what is on his mind. We all know that he is Cuban Born and was a Pedro Pan, but has been trying to insinuate his weirdo ideas into our Politics for a number of years. Most Florida Voters that I know will make him a one term Senator, and he will certainly have an opponent in the 2010 Primary. He is not just disliked, he is hated here in Florida. We would love Castro to take him back, the sooner the better.
This doofus is my senator. *sigh*
Maybe, alot of US have to come out of the woodwork and run for Dffice! There sure appears to be much to do before 2010!! If WE get there, what with ZERO pretending to be at the Helm with his ever present Puppeteer, William Ayers, writing the scrpts and doing the brain work for THE IDIOT!:-)
Don’t wish Castro on anyone.
Dear Senator Martinez,
According to your constitutional scholarship, James Bond fits the qualifications to be President of the United States, if he can get enough votes. I think he should run in 2012. Sure, he's a spy for the British MI5, and he's also fictional, but I think with the right campaign team behind him, he could well win it. I think the voters could be fooled into thinking he fits the constitutional qualifications, and that's the main thing, as you say.
Respectfully,
Yaelle
I get the picture that he's a Rino, and soft on border security and immigration in general, but not being from Florida I am uninformed about him other than the self-puff of his book.
Can someone list the worst? Well, I guess this letter about Obama could be the worst.
That's OK, we aren't. They are just projecting their inner idiot onto us.
Sounds like an admission that Martinez thinks Obama has an eligibility problem under the Constitution, to me.
This ass was another of the open borders crowd. I’ve been writing to him and getting the same blather about open borders for awhile.
Vince
Then All Hell Breaks Loose (the disruptions I mentioned above).
“voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office”
So Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could run US President if he gets sufficient votes to win from idiot Democrats, he has been sufficiently “vetted”?
Right now, we Floridians, need to put up a candidate against this fool and boot him from office. I didn’t vote for him the first time around. He’s probably so delusional that he thinks of Obama pulls this off, then he will eventually be able to be President himself. He needs to be shown the door...and it shouldn’t hit him on the arse as he leaves!!
What do you mean "NOW". When was he ever?
The NASDAQ was down today 9.0% - all hell has already broken loose.
No one has any confidence in this clown. I know a moderate who’s wife probably voted for O. I am not sure if he voted for O but he is having major reservations about Obama.
Modern Horse.
