India's top security official has resigned.
It comes as the Indian government continues to struggle under growing accusations of security failures following the Mumbai terror attacks

Why is the blame for the massacres in Indian being placed on inadequate security rather than Muslim jihadist terror?
But what angered Mr D’Souza almost as much were the masses of armed police hiding in the area who simply refused to shoot back. “There were armed policemen hiding all around the station but none of them did anything,” he said. “At one point, I ran up to them and told them to use their weapons. I said, ‘Shoot them, they’re sitting ducks!’ but they just didn’t shoot back.”
When 10 guys can cause havoc for *days* killing unabated it's clear they have no security, and this guy resigning did the right thing.
You think Bush would resign after he stood by and allowed millions to entered this country illegally, during wartime yet? Not a chance.
How many American politicians resigned over this economic meltdown, that caused harm to millions?
Zero.
It's takes a bit of honor to actually take responsibility and resign.
I don’t know the guy. Maybe he should resign, but I’m betting he did about as good a job as anyone could do in these circumstances. How do you defend against that sort of thing? The only real solution I see, is arming the citizens, and that wouldn’t be the security chief’s job.
I wonder if these police were in on it...
I'll tell ya how.
You *immediately* go in, and with massive overwhelming force, use CS and all other tools available, and kill the SOBs before they kill many dozens more. Remember, these people don't take hostages, they kill them.
If you have a better idea, I'd like to hear it.
This should have never gone on for *days*. This should have been over in 2 to 4 hours max.
I already gave you a better idea. Armed citizens.
Your idea is great...unless they rigged the building to blow, then you’ve got a 911 style disaster where everyone dies + the first response units.
Realistic solutions? Bury these guys with ham and bacon. Seriously. Armed citizens. Ask and listen to Israeli advice. I don’t think getting rid of your leader at a moment like this is a good idea.
First, I would like to ask if you have actual insider knowledge of such things before replying.
I’m watching this as your average person, and it seems to me India was in a damned if you do, damned if don’t situation.
Let’s say they went right in. It’s over in 2-4 hours, but all the hostages are dead as a result. The perps blew them to pieces when they saw the security forces sweeping in. Seems to me you’d be one of the people complaining that it was irresponsible, and that they should have fist gathered intelligence.
The Indian security forces appear to be incompetent cowards.
The Guy who took the most famous picture is saying that armed police who could have fired back were sitting back an letting the terrorists kill, rather than shoot back.
