Hundreds of shoppers smashed through windows at a Long Island Wal-Mart early Friday morning, killing one store employee in the stampede. News' reader Nakea Augustine caught the chaotic scene on her cell phone, check out the photos.

This is just a guess mind youI’ll bet there were expensive game systems, like WII, advertised and that was what the rush was about. I noticed someone in the mob had an expensive cell phone, may have been an I-Phone. Looks like we’er heading to a depression, all right.
What's offensive is the behavior of certain groups of people in this nation, and perhaps those who choose to remain "ignorant" of it.
My town and state were inundated by the KKK for much of the 20th century, and the crimes they committed were horrifying. Good Catholic men in my town fought the KKK scum in the streets with pool sticks. The bigots tried to come preach their hate on the courthouse steps and we booed them out of town for good. If you think the KKK stuff is fiction, you’re even more ignorant than your posts make you appear to be.
...OK, yer familiar to 2008 voting demographics, and Valley Stream stores. I might accept yer premise that you know all the patrons and their tendencies to wreak havoc. In yer wisdom, you said nothing to prevent the death of an employee. “Are you?” No, I don’t have a horse, in Lexington, Kentucky, just a soapbox...
How could they have stopped it? Hiring riot police with high powered hoses? Not good for sales.
Pack of disgusting animals.

Pack of Harvard trained scholars. Is that better?
This is very much a specific cultures attitude which has been "refined" by people like Rev Wright, and race baiters like Jessie Jackson Sharpton and the democrat party.
There was a time where urban black communities had a little more integrity and self respect, and respect for others.
This is a glaring example of the effect a few decades of people like those mentioned above have had on these communities
It’s just that some only use the ‘animal’ term when the bad actor(s) is black. It sometimes seems that they troll the forum just for that very reason. There are threads where horrible and despicable behavior is discussed and the word ‘animal’ is never thrown out.
Where is color being used as a protective shield? I agree that they acted like a mob or a bunch of thugs. It’s just that selective ‘animal’ label that rubs me the wrong way.
‘Blacks SHOULD embarrassed by the behavior of their fellow people. I would be too if my people behaved like that.’
Who are your people? (Take me to your leader)
Apparently, I have misspent an entire lifetime thinking Americans were my people.
“I hate n’s. You can’t have anything valuable in your house. N’s will break in and take it all! Everything white people don’t like about black people, black people don’t like about black people. It’s like our own personal civil war. On one side, there’s black people. On the other, you’ve got n’s. The n’s have got to go. I love black people, but I hate n’s. I am tired of n’s. Tired, tired, tired.” - Chris Rock
Look who’s ignorant, I’m talking about today, not 40 years ago.
And note by your own description, these KKK were the exception, not the rule of communities back then as well.
The KKK barely exists today, that’s the point I was making, which seems to be lost on you because you are focused on trying to define me as a racist rather than what I’m trying to say, and the FACT of the situation we see TODAY.
“..I can’t remember the last time I saw a KKK mob on the news killing people. I think their membership consists of about 12 people.”

Well, perhaps 12 plus Senator Robert Byrd, Democrat, West Virginia.
Also, what you seem to be insinuating, is because things were bad 50-100 years ago, it’s an EXCUSE for this black behavior today.
NEWS FLASH, blacks weren’t the only people persecuted, enslaved, treated poorly. The 20th century saw people of all colors enslaved, tossed in interment camps, their property taken away by government, and treated as second class citizens by others.
But we are all just “white” in a black mans eyes.
In 1979, at a Who concert in Cincinnati, 11 people were killed in a stampede as concert-goers tried to enter a stadium where there was no reserved seating. Based on the music I'm guessing the crowd was mostly white. I recall thinking pretty negative thoughts about the people involved in that stampede at the time.
The ultimate conclusion by most people who looked at that situation was that it was an accident waiting to happen. It was stupid to expect that such a huge crowd was just going to calmly enter the stadium and sort themselves out when a lot was riding on speed.
Looking at the picture before this Walmart event you can see something very similar. Rather than an orderly line as there was at some other stores, here is a huge crush of people waiting to surge forward. In the Who concert case the only thing to be gained was a seat closer to the stage. But in this event the value of rushing into the store as quickly as possible was possibly worth hundreds of dollars.
I have been in a crowd situation where the people around me were being squashed together quite hard and there could have been trampling if anyone had fallen down. This actually occurred when a crowd was leaving a stadium and the flow was suddenly blocked. In such events the people in the back are not really at fault because they can't see what is going on. The people in the front can't necessarily do much to help anyone who has fallen except to avoid falling and being crushed themselves as the crowd pushes then forward.
A acquaintance of mine queued up at a Walmart last night. Security guards organized everyone in a line and only permitted 30 people at a time to enter the store. I'd say that Walmart has some liability in the case of this stampede.
‘I started by pointing out the race in the pictures and realized I needed to change the way I was looking at it. It isnt race, it is culture.
People of every race would act the same way with similar cultural values.’
Sir...the above revelation by you confirm my belief that Free Republic is the best discussion forum with some of the best people around.
The Sheeple have spoken!
I have a friend who is black that has two good parents and he is well on his way to becoming an aerospace engineer, he uses proper grammar and the whole gamut of other civilized behaviors.
These people who trampled this man are thugs, that is a judgment made upon the content of their character and nothing else.
Well, according to blacks, I's be a cracker.
