To align Sarah Palin with Hillary Clinton on any level other than gender is both disingenuous and insulting.
She has been the governor of a state whose economic structure (among other things) is unlike that of any other state in the country; 80 percent of their revenue is based in oil and gas!
Its too convenient and easy to pin her inadequacies on the press demeaning portrayal of her. To be fair, Sen. [John] McCain was the one who put her into this position, as Pete kindly pointed out to me; the guy who was willing to lose an election before winning the Iraq war, was apparently more concerned about winning an election than running with a competent vice president.
Doesnt really jive with the whole Country First theme. It wasnt too difficult to read into the selection of Gov. Palin.
While I admire her tenacity and perseverance, at some point a person must take personal responsibility when overreaching.
This is not to detract from her accomplishments, but rather to draw attention to the fact that so many Americans were willing to buy into the image of Sarah Palin as opposed to the substance.
The idea of electing candidates to the highest office in the country because theyre like you is absurd. I want the leader of my country to be smarter than me. This doesnt mean Im stupid oh contraire, it makes me smart!!
Sarah Palin is not a stupid woman, but what she lacks is exactly what President-Elect Obama possesses. Those who excel in any intellectual arena exhibit the ability to formulate higher thought based on the processing of information, not merely repeating it.
When a person merely repeats what theyve been told, we wind up with a President [George] Bush.

Translation: Obama has gravitas (It impresses serious people)
"Seriousness is stupidity sent to college."-P.J. O'Rourke. "Serious people are dense and they know it", O'Rourke says. "They then borrow the gravity of one situation or another to add weight to (themselves)".
Considering her indignation at Sarah Palin being compared to Her Heinous, I’m betting they’re of the Nina Burleigh variety.
I wished they'd just shut up already and give the woman a break.
You cannot begin to compare someone running for POTUS and someone running for VP. The VP candidate has not had the benefit of formulating any of the message, and hence is relegated TO repeating the message outlined by the top of the ticket over and over. Woe to the VP candidate who attempts to “intellectualize” and promote a new or different message than the one put forth by the presidential candidate.
This woman is attempting the age old impossibility of comparing apples to oranges.
> To align Sarah Palin with Hillary Clinton on any level other than gender is both disingenuous and insulting.
I agree. Mrs. Clinton became a senator because of her husband. Mrs. Palin became mayor and governor because of her own capabilities.
There is no comparison.
This woman is attempting the age old impossibility of comparing apples to oranges.'
Your point is precisely correct, which is why I saw the article as just another excuse to beat on Sarah Palin...and thus it certainly will be a rather interesting four years with Vice-President elect Joseph Biden, who has more than a knack for putting his foot in his mouth.
Actually, no, you ARE stupid, Dana -- it is not "smarter than me", it is "smarter than I".
