The Constitution requires that, to be president, one must be a natural born citizen of the United States. Conservative Alan Keyes-who ran against President-elect Barack Obama in the 2004 race for the Illinois Senate, and in the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign (Keyes ran on the American Independent Party ticket)-is challenging whether that is the case for our new president. In November, Keyes filed a lawsuit against Obama, the California secretary of state, and others, to stop California from giving its electoral votes to Obama until a birth certificate is produced proving that he is indeed a natural born citizen. ESSENCE.com talked to Keyes about where he thinks Obama was born, why he questions the birth records already provided, and if this whole lawsuit is just an overblown case of sour grapes.

The reason an issue has been raised about Obama is because of the simple question, which can be answered with a birth certificate that shows he was born in the United States, or born to parents who had the capacity to transmit U.S. citizenship. When the question was asked, he danced around it. If the most important office of the federal government can be occupied by someone who is not qualified under the United States Constitution, that destroys the authority of the Constitution. I think it's something that needs to be dealt with in a clear, straightforward way. Eventually the case will get to the Supreme Court, establish the facts, and clear the air. And of course you can point to federal law, Supreme Court decision, or the place in the Constitution where this is specified?
Two things: it depends on whether there is wording in the newer law that specifies that it supercedes the older law, a and when that takes(took) effect. If the law at the time of Obama’s birth stands, how old was his mother when he was born?
The Supreme Court ruled that Ark was a citizen at birth. So please tell me what is the legal difference between citizen at birth and natural born citizen? And point out where that difference is defined, please.

The issue is was he born in Hawaii. If he was then his mother's age and his father's nationality is irrelevant. He's a natural born U.S. citizen.

Take your snark elsewhere. I was copying and pasting from a website regarding immigration. And I do believe by “aquire”, they mean by birthright, which means being born a citizen. Not aquiring it at a later date.
I think i have a solution. Maybe Barry has misunderstood the question. Let me rephrase it:

From what I understand, his wives at home in Kenya were tribal marraiges and not legally recognized by British law. But I have no idea if he was married to Ann Dunham or not. It really is irrelevant to his NOT being a Natural Born Citizen as his father was not a citizen and his mother did not reach the age of requirement to bestow his citizenship on Barack on his own.
Glad you are confidant of that. I am not and would like a legal entity to verify this. Unless you consider someone posting something on a website as legal proof. I don’t even think that would be acknowledged in a court of law as evidence.

It is not too late to write your Senators, Representatives, and the Supreme Court Justices. This is too important to be silent or uninvolved.
The case would be stronger if people could post some actual evidence that he wasn't born in Hawaii. He says he was. The state says they have his original birth certificate on file. Nobody's come up with anything showing otherwise. Until they do then what is the Supreme Court supposed to rule on? "May it please the court, we don't think Obama was born here and we don't have any evidence so we expect him to prove it?" Doesn't work that way.

I respectfully request that you consider reviewing Docket No. 08A407 Leo C. Donofrio, Applicant v. Nina Mitchell Wells, New Jersey Secretary of State.
Our Constitution in Article II Section 1 Paragraph 5 states “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President”.
Mr. Donofrio represents a considerable number of citizens noting the conspicuous failure of the presidential-designate to produce sufficient proof of compliance with the above constitutional requirement.
The work of Mr. Ron Polarik has shown all Certificates of Live Birth to date to have been forgeries.
Thank you for your consideration of this extremely critical matter.

Stop the Obama Constitutional Crisis
When you were first elected and as tradition requires you have sworn the oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me G-d.”
Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution reads: “No Person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.”
There are numerous questions as to Obama’s citizen status raising suspicion and doubt about Obama constitutional qualification to be president. To settle these questions Mr. Obama must produce proof of citizenship!
Documents that must be produced include;
(a) a certified copy of “vault” (original long version) birth certificate;
(b) certified copies of all reissued and sealed birth certificates in the names Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Soetoro, Barry Obama, Barack Dunham and Barry Dunham;
(c) a certified copy Certification of Citizenship;
(d) a certified copy Oath of Allegiance taken upon age of maturity;
(e) certified copies of admission forms for Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School; and
(f) certified copies of any court orders or legal documents changing his name from Barry Soetoro.
It is reasonable that these documents should be produced considering that his father is Kenyan, his adoptive father is Indonesian, and his grandmother claims to have been present at his birth in Kenya. If he is a natural born citizen then producing these documents should not be any problem.
These allegations will not go away until Mr. Obama produces proof to federal authorities and the public. If he will not do so voluntarily he must be compelled by every means available. You, as an employee of The People, have sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitution.
We The People are demanding you to make every effort, both public and private, to resolve this fundamental Constitutional question before 20 January.

Why on earth would you think it is OK for us to take Obama at his word?
Are you sure you’re on the right forum?
Do you really think any state official can refuse to allow the Supreme Court to review his birth certificate?
Please don’t bother answering any of these questions as it appears obvious that you have made up your mind.
Uh, the burden of proof to establish one's eligibility for the presidency is not on the electorate. For example, when you apply for a job and the potential employer asks to see verification of your right to work, do you think you can just say, "Nope, sorry. You have to prove that I am ineligible. If you can't, then that means I am all clear based on the fact that I said so and you can't prove otherwise."

I know Obama’s minion’s post their talking points all over, so we need to post the truth to balance it out.
The Expatriation Act of 1954. Loss of citizenship, whether by birth or by naturalization, has to be a deliberate act performed by the citizen themselves. It cannot be done for them, as by a parent or guardian. For Obama to have lost his natural born citzenship he would have had to have performed one of the several expatriating acts outlined in §349(a) of the INS code. The two which are most relevent are:
1) Obtaining naturalization in a foreign state upon the citizen's own application or upon an application filed by a duly authorized agent, after having attained the age of eighteen years. In other words Obama would have had to seek citizenship status on his own when he was 18. Or
2) Taking an oath or making an affirmation or other formal declaration of allegiance to a foreign state or a political subdivision thereof after having attained the age of eighteen years. In other words Obama would have had to formally renounced his U.S. citzenship.
The acts have to be deliberate. They must be done with the full knowledge that Obama intended to give up his citizenship. And the burden of proof, according to the Supreme Court, lies with those claiming he did intend to do so.
Indonesian law is irrelevant in this. Regardless of what it says on the matter it does not supercede U.S. law. Obama's mother could no more give up citizenship on Obama's behalf than he could give up her's. If he was born here then he is a U.S. citizen, and has been from the day of birth to this day. Unless you can show otherwise. If everyone is correct and Indonesia does not allow dual citizenship, then the most likely conclusion is that Obama's Indonesian citizenship, if it existed, was fraudulent and void.
