An Indian teenager who dared to write a love letter to a sweetheart from a higher caste was beaten and paraded through the streets before being thrown under a train and killed.
Manish Kumar, 15, a member of Indias Dalit, or Untouchable, community, was seized by a gang of men as he went to his village school.
He was beaten and his head was shaved before he was thrown on to the tracks, as his mother begged for mercy, witnesses said. It was alleged that police looked on as the incident took place.

I did that once.
If India ever wants to truly enter the modern free world as a peer of places such as the US the remnants of the caste system must be thrown out.
All cultures are equal. Diversity makes us strong.
Here’s an example of the world economy and social blending that Liberals long for. Can’t we just all get along Liberal mantra is pure BS from clueless morons. Not a good idea, IMO.
I guess it didn't help him.
While Indians are some o the most deeply spiritual people on the planet, they also embrace some horribly outdated ideas, such as the “untouchable” caste.

ROFL
Interestingly, the article discusses how the caste system is not unchangeable.
Castes can move up and down in the system, just not individuals.
The murderers are members of a caste that has gained slightly in recent years compared to the victim’s. They may have been trying to emphasize this new difference in status by their actions.
Before we get too judgemental here, we should remember that 50 years ago similar events occurred in parts of our country for exactly the same reason, and 100 years ago they were quite common. Got to keep them in their place, you know.

The Indians are so funny. They will swear up and down that they no longer have a caste system yet they freely murder Catholics who offer the Untouchables social mobility and they kill Untouchables who dare to believe the propaganda that the caste system no longer exists.
More community activists at work.
Man’s inhumanity to man.
Spiritual doesn’t mean nothing if you worship demons, or your own efforts to get you closer to God!
Much of it is illegal, but still practiced.
How to enforce laws in a country of one billion people with extreme poverty?
If you want to believe they worship demons, then fine, believe that.
Thankfully most people know better.
Yesss...but, their culture has been around for a 1000 years longer than ours. You would think they would be more enlightened by now. Why not? Why did their culture stagnant while ours continues to evolve?
Think I'll give a little extra thanks tomorrow that we do not live in such a horrid place. Yes, I said horrid, these acts are reprehensible to any civilized society and are indefensible.
Also it is not uncommon for Hindus to terrorize Christians. (”Probe reveals Hindu terror cell,” The Washington Times, November 21, 2008)
Huh. I’ve always had the problem of being attracted to girls of a lower caste. ;)
