For the first time, the world is now hearing from the man seen in the background of Governor Sarah Palin's visit to an Alaskan turkey farm.
Brian Tomes says he was just doing his job and "things happen."
Tomes was going about his gruesome task of slaughtering turkeys as Palin gave a TV interview, talking about her Thanksgiving plans.
The farmhand told INSIDE EDITION he didn't realize he could be seen as Palin was speaking. "I thought they had panned in on her face I did try and block the process," he says.
The video has become a YouTube sensation with more than 2.2 million hits so far.
Tomes has worked at the Triple D Turkey Farm in Palin's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska for the past nine years. He says Palin is being unfairly criticized over the video. "The only thing I can say is, 'Don't mess with my Governor!'"
INSIDE EDITION viewers seemed to agree, sending in e-mails following our coverage of the incident which has ruffled some feathers.
In an e-mail, one INSIDE EDITION viewer said: "It was a turkey farm...of course they butcher them there."
Another said: "Where do you think the turkey you buy at the store comes from?"
Just keep in mind, that this is what they will do with any and every candidate that it looks as if we might choose for ourselves. Now, they can’t be having that...
So we might as well get ready, and pick a tough fighter, because it will only get harder.
Tatt
I had NO IDEA they were actually KILLING those turkeys before they took them to the store. Ohhhh....my....Gosh!!!
/sarc.
Wrong. FDR was the VP candidate in 1920. He had quite a comeback.
But I agree that Palin is not going to do this.
but they are not the people who would ever vote for her so who cares?
my son took his first deer saturday afternoon, a nice fat eatin’ doe.
funny thing was, he had to kill it first....go figure.
Remember the Mr. Obvious episode with the guy calling in about cooking a turkey?
That my lad, is why when you see a news crew out and about, you need to seize the initiative and dominate the background, rather than submit to interviews on their terms....
This was a short mockumentary at Governor Palin's expense.
Well Sarge maybe you just aren't "old" enough to remember the master of the comeback "You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore," his swan song after losing the California gubernatorial race in 1962, and after losing the presidential race of 1960.
But he was back from the grave in 1968.
Every Daughter of a Pioneer Woman sees in her their antecedent.
Go Sarah Barracuda!
Better yet...ask them what they thought the turkey was being pardoned from. It certainly wasn’t a turkey spa.
I don’t know how many Freepers have been interviewed by TV news crews, but I have been. As the subject of the interview I was not given the choice of where to stand or what the backdrop might be... that was determined either by the news talker, the cameraperson, or the producer. I was totally unaware of what was in the background.
This set-up was deliberate.
I have been interviewed as well for Fantasy Flight and crime scene events. This was the ultimate set up.
Palin was the one running for President?
Only one candidate has ever come back from the grave like this
So we didn't hear from Reagan again after losing in '76?
The damage ios already done
What damage? She's still Governor of Alaska and remains one of the most popular politicians in the country. Olbermann is that you?
because The Sheep associate Sarah with SNL and a failed campaign.
They're not going to vote for her anyway. So why worry about what they think? They're just simpletons who do as they're told by the MSM and Democrats. No matter who McCain would have chosen for VP, even Ridge, they still would have trashed him.
In the minds of The Sheep, who are Leftists, she is damaged goods.
What about the minds of the thousands of people who braved chilly weather for hours to see her speak? The people who saved McCain from a genuine landslide defeat because Palin was on the ticket?
Simple, E3. They aren't the majority, and never will be.
On another note what happened in the background wasn't graphic at all. I have a friend who has a very large Turkey operation and he butchers a few to sell to friends and family. He has a steel rack with hooks hanging from it.Hangs the turkeys by the feet and cuts their head's off with a sharp knife.
For liberals, infanticide is fine - but fowlicide is just going too far.
