MORTON KONDRACKE: GOP's first step is to ignore Rush

How can the Republican Party rebound? The first step would be to quit letting Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham set its agenda.

A second step would be for Congressional Republicans to actually try to help President-elect Barack Obama succeed in addressing the country’s dire problems — offering better ideas where appropriate and opposing just when necessary, not reflexively.

And the third — maybe the biggest one — would be for GOP governors to use their posts to show the country how conservatives can solve problems, especially the dismal state of American education and its menacing cousin, lagging American competitiveness.

If one governor would fully implement a widely circulated proposal to transform U.S. education — based on having most children graduate after 10th grade and using the savings to pay teachers like professionals — it could serve as a model for the nation and bring the United States back to world standards.

ROTFLMAO

Would you please explain your response and tag line? I am unfamiliar with the second story of David and Goliath.

“What the Republicans need are more John MeCains & Joe Liebermans! “

Did he actually say that? He does know Lieberman isn’t a Republican, right?

GOP party needs a new contract with America, The details of which will be contentious, so the earlier they start to formulate official GOP positions, the better for the party.

The GOP already has official positions, based on Conservative principals. So it should’nt be a stretch to make a new contract. People have to realize that if they do not wish to support the platform based upon a few issues they dissagree with, then the DEM Socialitsts will have uncheked power.

Who do we listen too for addvse to modify GOP positions?
I don’t agree with Newt 100% of the time, I don’t agree with most pundidts 100% of the time. I think Mort is wrong, the three he did mention are quite good, especially Rush.

he’s actually right though. Rush doesn’t have any executive experience. He doesn’t know how to implement conservative ideas. Only governors can do that.

And that is why Steve Forbes failed. You can’t expect a columnist or a pundit to run the govt.

The GOP wants to rebound? This is a joke.

The GOP stood by and totally ignored the government wave through upwards of 40 million illegal aliens, during war time yet. This mass lawlessness has compromised and undermined our entire system, including our electoral process.

And now that all the children have been brained washed in the government schools...Well, the GOP is all but history.

Watch for the GOP try to out liberal the liberals in the future, just to survive.

” The best person right now to make that happen is...you guessed it mort, Sarah Palin. “

well that was his point. You’d go to Palin for leadership, not Ingraham.

I don’t watch FNC anymore except Cavuto.

In my modified boycott of Foxnews, I'll watch only Fox & Friends, anything Megyn Kelly is on and Cavuto. Foxnews, Brit Hume and his All Star panel fawned so mightily over Barama after the third debate, I chose to boycott the sunsabiches from that point on.

Excellent post!

I love the way Rats and other assorted hippie and communist scum claim that conservatism is obsolete.

It's like saying water is obsolete.

This is very silly. One reason we lost this time was because the agenda of those of us who listen to Rush, Sean, and Laura was not only ignored but mocked by the likes of Kondracke. The party followed the RINO path and lost, and now he’s saying they have to quit following OUR path? Ridiculous!

As I remember, Mort was pissed that the Amnesty bill got clobbered.

I also distinctly remember Barnes being for the amnesty bill and stating it would and should pass .

Mr. Morton Kondracke is no more relevant than an earthworm crawling across a hot sidewalk in July. Sure, it's kind of sad to notice, but no one hardly gives him another thought once they step to the next paving stone......

What a waste of a perfectly good social security number this one is....
