Broken by Radio Equalizer, confirmed by Fox News.
In announcing his decision, Colmes said, I approached Bill Shine (FNCs Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network. Although its bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, Im proud that both Sean (Hannity) and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years.
Colmes will continue to have a presence on FNC as he will serve as a liberal commentator on a variety of FOX News programming, including Foxnews.coms The Strategy Room and continue hosting his radio program, The Alan Colmes Show on FOX Talk, a division of FOX News Radio. He will also begin developing a weekend program
Hannity added, Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, hes been a great friend which is rare in this industry. Ill genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner.

I think they are just giving him a graceful way out.
Pale face is leaving...bummer..
He was a good cupcake.
Who’s going to replace him? Bob Beckel or Kristen Powers? I’m hoping the latter.
I couldn’t stand the guy. But then, I can’t stand any talking head spouting marxism and supporting the murdering of babies.
Excellent. We might be able to watch the show again.
It is common in our house for someone to run from the room at the sound of Alan’s voice.
Good riddance. To bad he’s not completely gone from FOX.
Huh. I guess everything's relative. I've never considered Colmes a "skillful debate[r]". All he'd do is spew the DNC talking points of the day, then have that dumb smile on his face when he was floored.
I'm not surprised by this though. Although recent viewings have been sparse, it's been obvious to me he wasn't enjoying himself. He seemed to be taking the jibes more personally. That's when it's time to go...
I wonder which cabinet position he was offered.
Now if they can get Hannity to do the same, I may tune in.
I quit watching a very long time ago. Maybe I'll tune it.
He must have been madder at Dick Morris than I thought!
NOT because I liked him on Hannity and Colmes - just the opposite in fact.
However, previously both he and that dunder-head Hannity were more-or-less "contained" on their own show, and if I avoided IT I could still watch FoxNews while being reasonably sure of avoiding them BOTH!
If "Skullface" is to become a "liberal" voice on OTHER Fox News shows it will be harder to watch the network without risking seeing/hearing him.
He doesn’t want to be in a position to try and defend the socialist Obama when the shiite hits the fan.
I've only watched recently during the later part of the campaign, and only then when the wife would have it on because there was nothing else to watch. But it seemed to me Colmes wasn't happy. And it seemed to me that this was the one topic (abortion) that had him upset (perhaps too strong a word). I got the idea that he had a problem defending it, especially when the terms "killing of babies" or the like were used.
Leaving just when he was at his snideist over the election. He’s been backtalking and uppity since Nov. 4, wincing his scrincey face into laughs. Now they can get a real liberal on the show, like Kathleen Parker.
I wonder if he’s physicall ill. He doesn’t look too healthy.
